And a Douche as well. Check out his postgame comments regarding Lilly hitting Escobar. Does he not remember last year when the Braves were punks? Does he not remember they put Soriano on the DL for a month and a half?

"There's no doubt it's not going to cool down any time soon," Atlanta's Jeff Francoeur said. "Lilly threw at [Edgar] Renteria last year, threw over [brian McCann's] head last year, and then suddenly hit Escobar. You can't do that.

"If you pimp a homer, you deserve to get hit, but [Escobar] didn't do anything and he didn't deserve that."

So, it's ok for a Brave to throw at Soriano's head and prior to that, break his finger? But, heaven forbid, we hit Escobar and it's not deserved.

Total Douche.

He's forgetting that what Lilly did last year was in response to what they did to Soriano. Lilly didn't do it on his own. I didn't think what Soriano did yesterday was any more pimping that what he normally does. The Braves were mad because Soriano didn't hit it out. They were more disgusted with him that Soriano was with himself. Seriously, how can you expect to throw at Soriano's head and not get any retribution? Lilly played it perfectly - if he was going to get wrung, do it when you are about to be taken out.

I wonder if this little war goes back to the Prior/Giles run in back in what, 04 or 05?

Franceour should stick to getting his swing back. He has bigger problems.

To be fair, when your OBP is .286, you're good enough to spend time making up "Ted Lilly hates the Braves" conspiracy theories.

he certainly has plenty of time to think up the conspiracy theories on the bench after not getting on base.

And during trips to the minor leagues.

what a dick, makes me wish the braves had a double-a team in the texas league so i could go heckle him when he gets demoted again

I'll never understand how teams think they can hit our guys, but when the Cubs hit back they get all self-righteous.

It's not that they just threw at Soriano for posing after HRs. Hudson threw at him last year, simply because he hit 3 HRs in the series opener and I believe 1 more the next day. That's why Lilly threw at Renteria. And how come he doesn't address the Renteria forearm to Fontenot? The Cubs never got a chance to retaliate from that. The Cubs never retaliated from Soriano's broken hand. And then the Braves started it up again this series. They already had ill feelings toward Soriano, and anything he did was just an excuse to throw at him again.

I posted this in the gameday thread:

Not sure if this was mentioned, but from my seats I could see Francoeur standing on the top steps yelling at Soriano as he posed and trotted to first. In the 9th when Bueno came up and in, Jeff was also the first, and only, guy up and yelling more at the umps for the ejection.

Francoeur is a total dbag. His extremely selective memory has already been discussed, but what really gets me is that Escobar was hit on the damn arm. Just take your base. I understand getting upset when someone throws at your head, there's never a reason for that, but not when you get hit in the arm. Then, the Braves came charging out of the dugout (with Francoeur likely leading the way) just looking for something. What do they have to lose?

He's right, Escobar hadn't done anything prior to that. So if Bobby Cox would've just done the right thing and given an at bat to Bueno or Jeff Bennett, it could've been taken care of all even-steven and such. Stupid Bobby.

Now I'm kinda wishing Mr. Francoeur had gotten one between the shoulder blades himself. Well, there's always next year--oh wait, he might not be in the bigs again.

Rosenbloom basically sides with the Braves in his blog today

Will Lilly really get suspended when he didn't even get tossed from the game?

Posted
I think it was pretty dumb. Yeah, Lilly was looking out for his guy, but whats the point in potentially risking suspensions vs. a team whose going nowhere any time soon? I think sweeping the season series is all the retribution we needed. You know how heated those bench clearing brawls can get, and we cant afford to risk anyone getting suspended, aside from maybe Ward and Howry.

team unity/chemistry, which is bigger than a pitcher missing a start or a position player being suspended for a couple of games.

I agree, the fact that our players are willing to stick up for one another (which wouldn't be necessary if Soriano had just run the dang ball out and got to 2nd) is a very good sign to me. If Lilly/etc has to miss a game or two, I think we'll be okay. Now if it was Dempster, Z, or Harden retaliating and missing a start/starts, it may be a different story...but our #4 pitcher doing it is different
