And the Padres were going to trade us Giles at the deadline. They wanted Fukudome to begin with, so is there any chance we can trade them straight up now?

Their stats are almost identical. Fukudome has more RBI's and is a better defensive player.

 

Meanwhile Giles plays in a hitters death trap.

 

Not saying I'd take Giles but just playing Devil's Advocate.

 

eh. Giles is 6 years older and I really wouldn't want to see him playing right field. Replacing Fukudome with Giles in the outfield would be a step down. The offensive replacement would be a sidestep, and the difference in age makes it not worth it.
