It's the Magic Wandy

6-4, 3.61 ERA

VS.

Our man Rich Harden

6-2, 2.04 ERA (1-1, 1.11 ERA as a Cub)

I'm not a fan of losing to the Astros or rain shortened losses, so I am doubly peeved about Monday's game. Let's hope the Cubs ruin Wandy's act and get back in the win column, because losing 2 to these bums wouldn't be acceptable.

Go Cubs!

Today, the Brewers have McClung or Bush vs. Volquez, so it definitely doesnt favor them. With Marquis vs. Backe tommorow, this ones in our favor, as was last nights, so we need to take this one.

I don't want to stand pat in these games, I want to gain games. The Brewers have 9 straight games vs. last place teams. We can't afford to accept not gaining ground when the Brewers lose.

BTW, a lot of people calling a pitcher with a 3.63 ERA mediocre here...

I hate losing to pitchers that I know aren't good but I can't prove it because we continue to suck against him.

Accepted new job + playing out string at old job = going home after lunch to watch game

I was always good at math.

Its bound to happen though. 5 games is a nice cushion to have right now. Who knows what the Brewers are going to do, but it really doesn't matter. The Cubs are 7-2 since the last game against FLA, winning 2 series in a row. If they can take these next 2 against Houston they will have won 3 straight series. That is the goal now with a 5 game lead. Milwaukee or STL won't come close if the Cubs can win the majority of the remaining series.

Agreed...but I'm more or less looking forward to September as our victory tour as opposed to a fight to hang on dearly with a very tough schedule. Normally I'd point to our August home schedule as being in our favor, but the bottom line is, like I said before we are only 9-8 in our last 17 home games, and it's not like we've played to cream of the MLB crop. Those games are against Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Florida, Pittsburgh, Houston. If we don't take advantage of this favorable schedule and get a 7-8 game lead into September, we might be hanging on for dear life.

If we have an 8 game lead going into September and go 12-13 in the month, the Brewers would have to go 20-5 to catch us.

It's the same MO for Rodriguez as it was for Moehler last night away, away, away the only difference being Rodriguez' stuff is slower.
