I did a search for Z and Zambrano and didn't see anything, so I thought this was necessary.

Maybe one of the guys on our squad that gets taken for granted. Over the past 6 years he's become one of my favorites. I love his intensity and his love of the game, and how he's matured as a player.

This thread is for appreciation for his quotes, his plays, his pitching, his hitting, his internet using, and all around love for Big Z.

I can't even imagine the amount of hate I would have for carlos if he was a Cardinal or Brewer.

As it is though, I hope he plays until he's 60 and is on the Cubs his whole career.

Stud pitchers offer up stud pitching in big games. Carlos Zambrano's picture can be found when you look up stud pitcher in the dictionary.

I think the thing that impressed me the most about Z was his performance against the DBacks last year during the playoffs. He stepped up. This year he has been so good that it is refreshing to see. I love Z.

My immense love of Z aside, I would like to comment on the fact that he is the P.T. Barnum of pre-game rituals. The stuff he has done with Fontenot is epic (the new one where little Mike climbs on his back!!!), but did anyone else see his sequence with Soto last night??? Awesome.

Other quick things I love about Z-

He is a one-liner machine... absolutely hilarious.

When he is not pitching, he is always the first guy at the top of the dugout cheering and giving congrats to his teammates.

* oh yeah... and the guy can hit (& run the bases) a little bit too.

I command this thread to be multiple pages by noon. We owe it to Z. Though he really should stop breaking his bat over his knee.

And reaching for balls with his pitching hand. And stomping around and getting all pissed off when someone makes an error behind him. And I love that he's an awesome hitter. He's not an automatic out.

But, that intensity also makes him awesome, so you take the bad with the good in his case. Z for Cy!

Zambrano is the man.

Also, he almost ran over me in his car after Saturday's game. Thank you for sparing me, great one.

My favorite part of Z this year is the increase in use of the slooooooooow curve. It used to be only 3 or so times a year, but Z realized that the pitch actually gets people out. I love the 94 fastball followed by the 61 curve.

Serious injury aside, how cool would THAT have been though?? :)

i'd prolly only ask for season tickets or something to compensate me for my injuries.

Switch hitting pitcher.

He probably didn't even start switch hitting because he felt some sort of natural tendency to, he probably just figured it would annoy opposing pitchers and just generally be more fun.

I don't remember Z pitching in 02, but I remember him being one of my favorite parts of the 03 season, cemented by that game-tying HR late in the game in Houston. On the good or the crappy teams since, he has consistently been the best part of it all.

He even made 06 somewhat enjoyable because every other start of his seemed to be him toying with a no-hitter
