Just imagine if Jimbo would have kept Josh Hamilton two years ago instead of shipping him off to Cincy for cash to buy a few bags of balls.....WOW! He put on quite a show this evening.

Wait, we drafted Josh Hamilton? I never even knew about this. I would figure there would be ten or more threads about it if we did.

For the gazillionth time, the Cubs drafted him for the Reds all along (without even knowing his identity until it was their turn to draft). They weren't ging to draft him (or anybody) for themselves.

Some of you guys need to learn how to read. The original post isn't a "gosh Jimbo is so fat and dumb for trading him away." It seems like more of a (like the thread title states) imagine how good we'd be with him in our lineup.

Yeah but the way the OP was worded, he made it seem like Hendry consciously drafted Hamilton and then traded him to the Reds. He didn't trade Hamilton, he traded his draft spot.

Didn't we pick him up as a favor to the Reds organization?

And then the follow up is why were we doing a favor to the Reds organization?

One little phrase to remember, "You scratch my back, and I will scratch your's." It's make dealing with a divisional rival go smoother, if you work out deals like this. Let's be thankful, that Josh Hamilton is not with the Red anymore, and smile.

How did they scratch our backs? In the end, The Rangers get one of the best hitters in the game, The Reds get one of the best pitchers in the game, and we get what now? Granted, The Reds and Rangers still suck, but its the principle of the matter.

Probably pretty good. But where would they be had they run out of baseballs?
