Hope you get to pitch more than once a week, Hart.

I wonder if Lou understands that rarely pitching will have an effect on your location. Wuertz has not been good, but he's given up 3 walks in the last month, and his BB rate for the year is 3.55 per 9, not good, but certainly not terrible. Kevin Hart was much worse while up.

Reliever A: 44 ip 54 hits 7 HR's 6BB's 4.67 ERA 1.35 Whip .302BAA

Reliever B 38IP 39 hits 4hrs 15BB's 3.55 ERA 1.42 Whip .265BAA

Guess which of these 2 relievers just got sent to AAA and which one is still with the Cubs being used as a Setup guy.......

Why?

After yesterday, we need a long reliever in case/for when Marquis gets pounded? Thats my best guess.

Marshall

Yeah, it probably has more to do with the rule that says Wuertz can't pitch any sooner than 10 days after his most recent outing so he's useless through the ASB.

Yea it really doesnt make sense, Wuertz has proven a hell of alot more than Kevin Hart at the Major League level this year, and in the past. We have other relievers on this team that need straightening out a lot moreso than Wuertz.

Marshall, Lieber, Gaudin, and Wuertz would all be candidates.

Weird. His K's are the numbers that are the most off for him. Ive read he has played around with his slide grip, which seems odd since it is his best pitch and its pretty nasty. Its not like his #s are that bad that he needs to 'go work on it'.

I don't think this is a big deal. Wuertz was going to be available for Saturday and Sunday at the max, and his usage is out of whack and he's coming off an awful outing. With the All-Star break it buys several days towards the 10 until Wuertz can come back. Mike goes down to Iowa, gets regular usage for a week, and if he's doing alright he comes back up. If Hart is no good, you can always replace him with Marshall when he leaves the rotation after the break, Ascanio from Iowa, or Eyre when he comes back shortly after the break.

We have more long relievers than second baseman now.

Lou is bullpen-[expletive].

"WHAT?!?! YOU LOOK LIKE ISHT AFTER YOU BARELY GET ANY PITCHING TIME!?! DOWN YOU GO!!!"

But he continues to rack up the innings for Howry who has been getting hit harder than Brett Myers wife.

Well his usage is out of whack because Lou is using him in extremely odd ways.

No, it's not that big of a deal, in and of itself. But it's symptomatic of annoying things. First off, everybody, including Lou, says walks are the thing that will put you in his doghouse. But Wuertz hasn't really been walking many hitters. And also, he never pitchers, and then proves ineffective when he is used, just like Lieber. If this was just a case of needing a fresh arm because the bullpen has been battered recently, it would be reasonable. But Wuertz was already in the doghouse and couldn't do anything to get out, and the bullpen is hardly taxed, as a whole.

That sounds logical. I'd like to see Wuertz get 3 games in a week to get a better feel again before he comes up and I think he'll be fine down there...do well and be in a good groove when he's called up.

It sounds logical until you remember the AAA all star game is wednesday, so he's not going to get a chance for regular work anytime soon.

Yeah but he can rest up think about what he did wrong while he sits in the corner.
