Yes. If the options are a) see LOTR in the theater alone or b) not see LOTR in the theater at all, it's a pretty clear choice. After 11 years of marriage, you stop trying to make your wife go see stuff you know she won't like.

Going alone and seeing what you want to see or endless hours debating what movie to see with others.

I don't have the patience.

yes, i'm not so insecure and worried what strangers think of me to prevent me from seeing something i want to see.

I'm just throwing this out there, but maybe some people aren't insecure or worried about strangers judgements of them, but maybe they just PREFER to go with others?

I don't order pizza with mushrooms on it. That doesn't mean I'm afraid of mushrooms, or hate mushrooms, I just don't prefer my pizza with them.

Yes. I'm not a pathetic panty-waste who's ability to enjoy himself lies solely in my association with humans.

These answers probably say more about you than those you are attempting to distance yourselves from.

The only time I really did was a few years ago when I was taking classes and I had a 3+hour break between my aftenoon class and my night class, and I lived about an hour away. That semester, I saw I dont know how many movies that I never would have had any intention of seeing otherwise.

Actually, he hasn't said that. And the question wasn't "Will you go see a movie alone?" It was "Do you to the movies alone?" Those are very different questions. I answered no for the second question, but I'd answer yes to the first.

No, but thats mostly because I don't go to many movies in the first place, so unless other people are already going and invite me, or a friend suggests it, I probably wouldn't go anyways.

I did say "never have never will" in the other thread. Although I probably shouldn't say never will. I doubt I ever will though, at least until I'm an old man. I don't go to many movies as is though, so when I do it's with at least my wife, if not some others as well.

To me, comedies and romance stories are movies never meant to be seen alone. Superhero films? I can and will see those alone.

I have gone to the movies by myself a couple times. A couple more times I have gone to see one thing while the people I'm with go see something else (usually happens when kids are involved). But it's been a while. I don't really go to movies much at all unless it's a drive-in and those are definitely no fun alone.

I've gone to a couple movies alone but it was usually during times in college when a majority of my friends were out of town. I remember going to see Rocky Balboa alone because I was so bored at my apartment a couple years ago. If I can go with someone else, I prefer that. But if nobody wants to go or there's nobody to go with, I'd go by myself.
