This game between two very young teams is a roller coaster ride. Tennessee will make a run, then Kansas, etc.

ku is obviously better coached, though ut is far more athletic.

You serious? Because I'm not seeing in this game where that's being shown at all.

Tennessee's had terrible hot/cold streaks throughout the game. If they were a bit more consistent hitting their shots then this would be a much closer game.

ku shouldn't be beating ut this bad for any reason. tennessee should be able to get to the hoop on a consistent basis against this young kansas team.

i should also mention that i hate tennessee and i hate their stupid headbands even more.

And their stupid coach most of all? :)

Not that I'm still bitter.

But I am.

I don't feel bad about that PSU loss at all. Close loss on the road when your (and the Big 10) leading score finishes with just 6 points? That was a game PSU probably would have won at home. PSU is going to give a lot of teams fits this year

I don't know what the hell it is with St. John's (they do this to us all the time), but when Luke Harangody puts up a 28/14, ND should win every time. This one's on the others. Especially Kyle McAlarney, whose tendency to completely disappear if he's not hitting 3's is really freaking annoying. He's a better player than to just be a complete nonfactor without threes.

I don't think Notre Dame is remotely a top 10 team. Apart from a close win over Texas, they haven't done anything to show me they're any better than the 2006-07 team, let alone last year.

Not too many teams are top-10 worthy this season.

Why should UT be able to get to the hoop at will? We haven't done it all year, and I cannot imagine that a game in Allen Field House is the time and place to begin.

Tennessee lost this game due to an inability to play defense effectively or to shoot worth a flip. Give Kansas credit, they won this game far more than Tennessee lost it, though. Tennessee misses Lofton and JaJuan Smith terribly right now. No one is shooting the ball particularly well outside of about 12 feet besides maybe Cameron Tatum. And Scotty Hopson just has not lived up to the "one-and-done" hype. Defensively, he is a HUGE liability.

Some things missing from this Tennessee team: perimeter shooting, secondary ball pressure on the press, and as a result, the ability to make that 12-0 run twice a game, as has been the trademark of this team under Pearl.

because of the kind of athletes they have, they have guys that are just explosive, slasher-types and it's odd that they can't get to the rack and haven't been able to all year. strange.

This IU game combined with OSU's effort vs. Minnesota paints an ugly scene for Iowa basketball.

I would like to believe today was a testament to IU's improvement and bodes well for the Hoosiers in the Big Ten. Instead, I think it portends doom for Iowa's chances in the league.

I have a few observations about that game. First of all, we played a really poor game but most of it was a result of what IU was doing. They were overplaying defensively and not giving us nearly as many open looks from 3 as we typically get. That did allow us to drive and get more points inside than we've gotten practically all year, but they made Iowa go away from their strengths and get out of their comfort zone. Iowa reacted well to it for stretches but then made some really bad decisions and hit some droughts.

This is the first time I've seen IU all year. That team has completely bought in to what Crean is telling them. They played frickin hard. I don't know that I've ever seen an opposing bench as into the game as those guys were. Seriously when they were down 13 they were still up on their feet and freaking out just over deflections. And I mean that in a good way.

I say that team wins at least 4 Big Ten games. I know they're bad but they do have some talent and they're going to be overlooked by everyone they play. And when you play that hard and are well coached you'll sneak up on some teams and pull out close games.

As far as Iowa, I think this team thinks they're better than they are for some reason. There's been a defensive regression. I think they can still be around that 7-8 win mark in the Big Ten but there needs to be improvement.

Was it uglier than the scored indicated? I expected Minnesota to win that game at home.

Ohio State was not impressive on New Year's Eve. We had open looks from 3 all day. We defended Mullens with a 6'5 freshman (Gatens) for much of the game and he did nothing. Turner's a stud but he didn't have a very good game. Buford had a solid game but it was basically Diebler getting away from us and hitting every shot which he hasn't done most of the time.

You might also want to point out, as it had a big effect on both teams, Eddie Hightower was reffing. How does that guy still have a job as a ref?

I was traveling all day, so I missed the KU/UT game, but I'm very excited about the win. If we can sneak out a win against Mich St., It'll be hard to be disappointed in the season so far. Sulley is right that, outside of Collins and Taylor, this is the least athletic KU team I've seen in a while.
