Ozzie continues to be an ass. RE: Edmonds:

"He just had a good day. I'm not going to promote the guy who is hitting .218 (actually .238), " White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said of Edmonds.

"I'd rather have him out there than (injured Alfonso) Soriano. He's a veteran player and he knows what he's doing ... Hopefully he doesn't have another game like that against us. Jim doesn't scare me. I'll pitch to him anytime."

Edmonds had a good quote, though:

"Whenever you get done tying me to the Cardinals, it'll be fine so I can start getting a little bit of Cubs' history in my background," Edmonds said. "It's a great win."

What was Edmonds asked? Who is 'you'?

Dunno. It's from the ESPN game recap. It doesn't say who/what he was responding to.

He actually said, "you guys," meaning the Chicago media. I believe a TV reporter asked the question. Jim has been pretty cool to be around, and his teammates have accepted him well.

will he wear a cubs hat or a cards hat when he goes into the hall?

None of those because he won't get in the hall. I've become a fan of his over the last month but he's an outfielder with only 4 all-star appearances an average career average (.286), only 365 home runs and is only 19th on the active career RBI and run list (shows he doesn't stack up with other players in this era). His 10 GG's will get him some votes but he won't get 75% with those numbers. If Andre Dawson can't get in with more home runs, many more RBIs and runs, a similar average (.279), and 10 GG's then no way Edmonds can.

All this said I'm guessing the post was meant as a joke.

What happened to my original post? How come it's no longer on the board? If people are still holding anything against Edmonds, just because he was once a Cardinal-- need to get over it. That's so childish not to be able to forgive.

I don't get it. Why would the Mods replace my original post with Cubbiebum's? Doesn't make any sense.

The threads were merged, CubbieBum's came earlier so it's posts are first. Here's your post: viewtopic.php?p=1827372#p1827372

I'm glad he's doing well and mauling right-handed pitchers right now. But he will eventually enter into a lull at some point, and I suspect the boobirds will come out again in full force.

Sure he won't blast homers like he did today, but provided Lou uses him judiciously, there's no reason to think he'll automatically go into a death-slump or something like that. He might remain gimpy though.

He could very well be reasonably productive the rest of the year. He's always hit very well @ Wrigley. I don't see a reason for the Wrigley faithful to jump on him too quickly if he slides a bit -- we got him for very little and he's already exceeded expectations.

BTW, that 2nd homer was off a lefty, which was good to see.

LOL I played for the angles too

Haha, I just watched that video. And I first thought he would have been smirking sarcastically. But he was actually kinda annoyed and serious when he responded. He's probably tired of being asked about the Cardinals. I can understand that if he hears it all the time. Plus they gave up on him in his eyes so there might be some resentment there.

I like how they've jumped the gun by saying the Cubs have swept the series.

Sure hope they're right, though.

I'm so glad to see this guy performing well for us. I think all of the people who want to dislike him or never warm up to him because of his past with the Cardinals are just lost and need to realize we have far too big of a goal in front of us to worry about where one of our guys USED to play.

I liked the signing then, and I like it more now.

I wasn't crazy about the signing then because I wanted Pie to get more of a shot to play, but I only saw an upside from signing Edmonds. We really had nothing to lose there. Of course, even in my wildest dreams did I not expect this from Hollywood. He has played very well since the end of June.

I hope so Nostradamus

D'oh! I am not a smart man. I obviously meant May. It's a good thing I'm really rich and handsome. Oh, wait.

Nah, I'll leave you guys to your own devices on this one.

It's amazing how many Cubs fans have pulled a John McCain and totally flip/flopped on Edmonds.

When you're hitting over .300 and have a SLG of .581, it's pretty hard not to get Cubs' fans support.

I was vehemently against this signing. I'm so happy I was wrong.

That could be a dangerous recommendation.

I'd say it's more of a John Kerry flip-flop. A McCain flip-flop would be cheering for both the Cubs and Cardinals at the same time and trying to say he was the #1 fan of both.
