This game is also on Comcast, but the board wouldn't let me put in enough characters in the title.

At least there's no Finals game tonight. By the end of the Sunday game I was sure they were just going to put up a screen that said "THE NBA FINALS ARE OVER ON ABC" instead of showing the 9th inning.

I also had no idea that Jurrjens was Dutch.

the name didn't give it away? i knew the second i first saw his name. then again, my dad was born in The Netherlands, so i've seen Dutch stuff all my life

Ugh, I'm so sick of the home night games. I have an evening class tonight that is definitely going all the way to 9 PM...nuts.

I concur. We've had one day game in the last 9 or 10 days, and it was a blacked-out FOX game on Saturday (which we lost).

Might Chipper start tonight or tomorrow?

he pinch hit last night and I didn't see any problems so I would think he will be in the lineup

He took 4 pitches. Wasn't too strenuous.

Albert Pujols didnt see any problems when he came back last week.

When this is your best player, and pretty much your only consistant hitter, and your on the borderline of contention, I wouldnt advise risking him. Let him pinch hit if you run into a situation where it would benefit, but The Braves really dont want to rush this guy back, unless they think that Greg Norton and Omar Infante are going to keep up what they did last night for the rest of the season when Chipper collapses in a heap.

so is the fact that is game is on ESPN the reason for that annoying green screen behind home last night?

I think it's permanent and I hate it.

Chipper barely made the walk to 1B yesterday. I don't think he will play tonight. At the very least, if he plays tonight, he most certainly won't play the day game tomorrow, 15 hours after tonight's ends.

I really hope Dempster can find the strike zone today. Its seems like he has been walking too many guys recently.

Is Jurrjens still starting? MLB has Jeff Bennett as the Braves scheduled starter.

Edit: according to the Braves site, Jerrjens injured his ankle somehow yesterday and Bennett is subbing.

Battle of 2 guys pitching way over their heads and coming back to Earth a little. Jurjjens and Dempster were both top 5 in ERA thru the first 6 weeks of the season. Jurjjens has given up 15 ERs in his last 16 innings, over 3 starts. Dempster has had back-to-back non-efficient 5 IP, 3 ER starts. Cubs facing a guy they haven't seen before. Dempster may have the benefit of facing a Chipper-less lineup. Key will be limiting the free passes by both pitchers.

Just thought this was interesting. Real record deviation from Pythagorean record:

Cubs +0

Cardinals -3

Brewers -2

Astros -2

Pirates -1

Reds +0

Apparently Jurrgens twisted his ankle when he slipped on a dugout step after yesterday's game.

I couldn't figure out why it was up there last night. The second screen is the temporary one, but they haven't used it anymore because they already have the permanent one. I wonder if ESPN requested that there be two for tonight's game, but that still wouldn't explain why the Cubs put it up a day early.
