What if he throws like 200 pitches and blows out his arm?

To make an omelette, you have to tear a few elbow ligaments.

Don't pitch Marmol for liek 4 straight days

I'm hoping the Cubs offense takes care of this for Lou. Because I believe Lou would bring in Marmol in a game of 5 or less runs. The Cubs just need to blow the doors open for a few days (Till the 2nd game of the Dodgers) to get Marmol some rest.

I still don't know why Lou took Lieber out after 1 inning. Maybe he's forseeing a short outing by Marquis tomorrow, but I wanted Lieber to go through the 7th, then use anyone but Marmol and Wood for the last 2.

I know it's a 4 run lead, but it's still the 7th inning, and the lead can get a lot closer a lot quicker if you leave Lieber in to face a lot of left-handers. They've had over an .800 OPS against him each of the last 6 years that I can find data on, including a 1.242 OPS so far this year. With the top of the Padres order coming up, 3 out of 4 being left-handers, and the 5th being a pinch-hitter for the pitcher that will also be left-handed, you're basically asking the Padres to come back if you leave Lieber in there.

I just now realized Wuertz has options remaining so Iowa will have a new closer tomorrow. Lou will initally tell people Wuertz needs to spot his location better. He'll mention we need Mike pitching well to go far, so he'll track him closely.

2 days later Lou will say that Wuertz poos his pants and that's what he's trying to get straightened out down there.

Good news is that the Padres scored more than half their runs for the week tonight and the Cubs still won.

Pen arms available tomorrow:

Eyre

Howry

Cotts

Wuertz

Lieber

That is plenty folks

It's not plenty when Eyre and Cotts will each get to face 2 lefties apiece and then be pulled, Wuertz will be pulled after his 1st walk, and Lieber gets double switched out after throwing 5 pitches.

anybody good with photoshop want to put Bob's man-stache on Len, and remove Bob's?

They'd probably put it on the air if someone did it and sent it in.

Might want to cut out WGN as well because they won't air it.

Scratch Wuertz from that list. Lou hasn't asked any reliever to go 4 days in a row this year (or last year if I remember right), and I doubt he starts with Wuertz.

Cubs are now five full games clear of the last playoff spot.

I see you post this updated number in every game thread; what does it mean?

I remember hearing something about Len growing facial hair and Brenly shaving his if the Cubs won a certain numbre of games in a row. Is this true and, if so, how many games is it?

10 games, so if they sweep this series, we'll see it.

It's how far we'd have to fall to miss the playoffs. We're 3.5 games ahead in our division and in the wild card, because the Cardinals hold the wild card.

But if the Cardinals were to pass us, we'd still hold the wild card, so we go by the next team in line, the Marlins, whom we are five games ahead of.

We are five games ahead of the team that'd have to pass us in order for us to miss the playoffs.

I was in the middle of cussing Wood out when Reed caught that ball.

I don't need any more of this excitement thing. Let's just kick their ass tomorrow.

I live as long as we win. I prefer to win blow out style but I'm not going to start asking for wins to come a certain way.

And everyone was obviously thinking it but no one has yet said that Barrett being the one hitting added a little more dread when it first came off the bat.

Was also going to mention, based on the voting totals, it's looking like the Cubs will get Soto, Soriano and Fukudome in to the ASG as starters and Zambrano and most likely Dempster will be in as pitchers. Z could have a shot to start the game if he keeps winning and Webb doesn't return to early-season form.

I want Aramis to get in as the NL 3B though, he deserves it. Even though that would probably bump Dempster, who also deserves it.

Webb isn't the only one to worry about. Lincecum and obviously Volquez have just as deserving resumes. Plus if Johan puts together say 3 great outings heading in his ERA would be around 2.5 too.

Just leave Marquis out there for 8 innings, we lose, we lose.

What if he throws like 200 pitches and blows out his arm?

I will take out a loan, pay for his hospital bills, and ask him to never pitch for the Cubs again.

I don't think he should have any trouble paying for his hospital bills himself.

That was a fun game. I would post some pics of me, the wife, and the spawn but I forgot the cable that connects my camera to the laptop...so that will have to wait until I get back to Louisiana.

And now, Cubs 2008 record with Vance in attendance: 4-1.
