No Russell Martin tonight, so that should help Gallagher a little bit.

Should be a good lineup for Sean to face then, if his breaking ball is on. Gallagher should be able to keep the Dodgers in check if he can keep Pierre off the bases. Loney and Ethier may also provide a challenge, but if he can stay in on Loney and up and away from Ethier he should do well.

Today is my 21st birthday. 3 years ago today:

I had my last day of highschool.

I broke my thumb horribly and terribly.

Mark Prior broke his elbow on a line drive from Hawpe.

Dusty Baker was the manager of the Chicago Cubs.

Let's make this birthday a little better please.

It all starts with you. Did you break anything today?

Did anyone notice the Cubs are 3 games behind their Pythagorean record (33-18)? At about a third of the way through the season, that projects to a 9 game gap. Last years DBacks were 11 games off the pace (to the negative). The Cubs should be better than their record.

3 years ago today, I ate at Heaven on 7 downtown. I only remember because that is where I was when I found out about Prior getting hit.

Weather is ridiculously sucky today in Chicago.

Tonight is a low in the lower 40s with wind 10-20 mph out of the NNE. Gusts of up to 30 mph early in the evening.

It was 85 and sunny yesterday. Boo Mother Nature.

Typical Midwest weather. Don't like it? Wait 5 minutes and it'll change.

I was at track practice 3 years ago today and my coach was the one who told me about Prior's injury. I remember taking my bike and going to my dorm to listen to Ron and Pat say it could be a career ender. I wasn't too happy after that

I was at the game in the Bleachers 3 years ago for a bachelor party when Prior got hit by the line drive.

The Score says Edmonds, Fontenot and Cedeno are starting tonight. My guess at the lineup:

LF Soriano

2B Fontenot

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

RF Fukudome

C Soto

CF Edmonds

SS Cedeno

I think this is a big key to tonight's game, especially if the wind is blowing in hard. Sean looked like he really got rattled when Michael Bourn kept getting on base, which I guess is to be expected during your first career road start. But if he can keep Pierre off the bases tonight, it should really limit the damage the Dodgers are able to do.

I was thinking Fontenot starting would push DeRosa to the OF to give Fukudome a break for tonight, and was waiting for a declaration of war from Japan.

I figured Fontenot was due for a start this series. Would have waited til tomorrow though, since lefties are hitting .316 off of Lowe.

My guess at the lineup:

Soriano

Fukudome

Lee

Ramirez

Soto

Edmonds

Cedeno

Fontenot

I was at the game too. I remember the sound off of his elbow so distinctly. It nauseated me at the time...I didn't think there was ever any way he'd come back.

Edmonds is still on this team? Reed Johnson hits righties better than him.

Everyone hits righties better than Jim Edmonds.

My 2 year old does for sure. Got her playing Whiffle ball already, and she's looking like BHogg's boy.

Lou Piniella is a giant moron. I am seriously sick of his crap. The White Dusty strikes again. Seriously, Soto 7th? Good thing their best hitter is now batting behind a 38 year old Jim Edmonds.
