It seems the Cavs are going to take someone like Koufos or Hibbert and achieve their seeming goal of pissing me off.

the local "OSU Homers" show on ESPN Radio HATES Koufos

I don't get that either. They already have Wallace, Z, etc. It may seem like a reach, but I'd go for CDR. At least he has a shot at taking the load off LeBron.

I like CDR as well, getting another player who can attack the basket like CDR can would be a plus. Moreso, I'd like to see them go for a scoring big man to stave off double teams on LBJ(Z doesn't draw any). The latest mocks have guys like Arthur and Spreights hanging around near 19, to take a stiff like Hibbert or a stiff/project in Koufos would be a waste. If they absolutely have to have a center, JaVale McGee at least has upside and can pick and pop, and will be around that pick.

What do you guys think of John Hollinger's draft analysis where he uses college stats to predict their eventual value?

I never was a big fan but they seem especially wacky this year.

what did he say about Morrison and Redick when they were drafted?

Out of left field, yes, but I think Russell Westbrook and Anthony Randolph are easily the two most overrated players in the draft from what I've read. Randolph isn't terribly skilled and is insanely raw. I like Westbrook a bit more, but he wasn't terribly productive at UCLA (though they had a balanced, patient offensive I know) and only one good year. He's not a point guard at this point, though he can defend that position obviously. I wouldn't touch him in the top-5. Randolph seems like a typical late first-round gamble, but will probably go much higher.

I don't really think much of them.

At this point, I'd like the Sonics to get Bayless or Westbrook. I like Mayo more than each, but I don't think there's enough shots for him and Durant.

Westbrook would be my preference. His defense would make a difference by itself.

Mayo is a more cerebral player than I think he gets credit for. He's the kind of guy you can let take the ball up the court and get you into your offense but he doesn't force too many shots. He moves well without the rock too. If the Sonics get him I think he'd be a great fit along with KD and I don't see too much of a problem in terms of shots--Durant would clearly still be The Man.

Redick needs to get the hell out of Orlando. He has no future on that team. I think he could become a decent role player, but it has to be the right situation.

Mayo has apparently really impressed the Heat, they also apparently do not like Beasley all that much, possibly not liking his personality http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/news/story?id=3459696. Very strange to get down on a guy because you don't like his personality, as there have been plenty of great basketball players who weren't all that likeable. But maybe that's not really the whole story.

But anyway, is Mayo really good enough to jump up to #2? That seems like a reach.

If Riley is leaning away from Beasley, then as much as I hate Riley, I think the Bulls should lean away from Beasley too. Riley is a better talent evaluator than Paxson. Now I'm really hoping more than ever we just take Rose.

At this point, I think it would be a pretty big shocker if the Bulls didn't take Rose. With that said, I think you absolutely have to at least inquire about getting the 2nd pick if the Heat are as willing to trade it as they appear. Offer Hinrich, Thomas, and our first pick next year for the 2nd pick and Mark Blount (bad contract). It might not/probably won't be enough, but if there is anyway you can get Rose and Beasley out of this draft you have to give it a shot. Edited by andrew9991

Even though I'm a Bulls fan, I can't wait to see Beasley drafted #2, or hell, maybe #3 based off what I've read today. He'll make whomever doesn't pick him realize the mistake they made a year or two down the line, and I'll laugh and say I told you so.

I'm pretty sure having Derrick Rose will make up for it.

Could part of the problem for Miami lie in the fact that they have Shawn Marion already? I know Marion usually plays power forward, but he's got the body of a small forward, and lining him up next to Beasley would put Miami at a size disadvantage. I mean, nobody in the NBA has their SF and PF stand 6-7 and 6-8.

It shouldn't. Shawn Marion showed this past season he is pretty average without Nash. Wade/Beasely would be a great combo, IMO. Those 2 could pick n roll all day long.

You should never let "need" dictate your strategy in the NBA lottery, I don't have the exact quote, but years ago Bobby Knight and Portand's GM were having a dicusssion...Knight was basically telling Portland they have to draft Michael Jordan....but the GM said "I need a center", Knight replied "Then draft Jordan and play him at Center".

Noted. We should still take Rose.

I really like both players, and would love to have both on the Bulls, it just that happens I think Rose is a better fit for Chicago. But gotta love the fanboyism...."BEASLEY IS THE BEST, EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS! HERE THIS! ARRHHHH!"

I've caught myself doing that a lot since we won the lottery. I became a Rose guy so I immediately started trying to find flaws with Beasley. Honestly there isn't much to dislike objectively.

if i was a heat fan and they picked someone other than beasley, i'd seriously consider burning down their arena.

personally, i'm on the edge of my seat to see which stiff the sixers pick at #16

There's very little doubt about Beasley's talent level. Maybe Riley has finally gone senile, I dunno.

Or maybe Riley just can't handle that the Bulls will finally get the top backcourt player OVER him, unlike the draft when he got Wade and we wound up with Hinrich. If that's the case, then I have one thing to say to him:
