Greetings one and all from beautiful Ames, IA !!!

CUBS are 9,999-9,470. I wonder if this is a big deal ??

First Hill, then Marquis, and now Lilly have all showed signs of getting back on track. In each's last start, combined, the opponents have scored a total of 4 runs !!

Ramirez got back in the groove, and now Soto, Cedeno, & Pie all appear to be playing with more confidence than they had previously.

This team is now on a pace to win 113 games. If they keep this up, by the end of the season they could quite possibly hold the record for most victories in a season !! In any case, CUBS have gotten their act together, and they're taking on the road.

The CUBS are set to invade Coors Field to play the Rockies, who are currently 9-10 (3-4 at home) , good for second place (5 games behind Arizona) in the NL West, and have lost 2 in a row, pending a date on Tuesday night with the Phillies.

The matchup for Wednesday will be..........

vs.

Morales is another left hander, and we've learned how to beat lefties like a rented mule ..... 11 out of our last 15 vs lefties (5-1 this season).

So.... let the carnage continue !!!

Go CUBS !!!

Just win, losers.

The Cubs are going for win #10,000, and it's on CSN+? I protest.

So.... go down to the local sports bar and watch it on their EI package !!

How did Pie look in his start? I saw he got 2 hits...

Tall, Dark, and Handsome.

Well duh. But I take it he doesn't look as lost?

He got robbed on a third hit on a swinging bunt and a bad call at first. He made consistent contact, lots of fouls and few swings and misses that I recall. He didn't crush anything.

Very pleased to hear that. Sounds like hes making solid progress.

Now lets let him play around in Coors...

Technically Cedeno, Pie and Soto (and maybe Murton too) faced him in AAA last season.

Definately. Coors is definately a place the Cubs should let Pie have 2 starts (2 game series I believe) and continue to build his confidence as a hitter. But seeing as Morales--a lefty---is starting one of the games, I doubt we'll see Pie until late in the game. But 2nd game against Cook, Pie needs to be in THAT game.

Didn't notice that he was a lefty. I agree with you totally there. I don't mind sitting him against lefties right now during the learning process. No excuse to not have him in CF come the start of Thursday's game, that match-up sounds like a great potential confidence builder.

And besides, even if there was a sports bar around here, they'd be more likely to show the Cards game, since we're closer to St. Louis than Chicago.

The saddest thing about that is even though the Cubs were 7-13 going into that game, the game thread for that Brewers game was longer than all but three of the game threads this year. And those three were opening day and the two extra inning games against the Pirates.

Fred - while we have seen lots of lefties and beat them handily so far, Morales is not "another left hander." We haven't seen anyone who throws 100 mph and certainly not someone who does so from the left side of the plate. I (almost) hope Pie sits this one out because Morales might make him look silly.

I do have confidence in the rest of our guys. Lets take this series before the Rockies realize that they are actually a really good ballclub.
