i wish i were a steelers fan...they've made out like bandits early on.

I just wish the Titans could actually draft. Paul Williams - who has yet to play an NFL snap - in the third round last year and, after taking a running back each of the last two years in the top two rounds, why not take yet another freaking running back this year?

Any John Greco to the Bears fans here? He seems like a solid guard for the bears.

Put him between kruetz and tait on the right or can he play the left. 2 rooks on the leftside could be too much though.

Anyway hes a guy im familar seeing play and liked him at toledo. he stood out.

I have no idea how I did not predict the Colts pick. I got too worried about what the Colts might need this year, and completely forgot their usual strategy. Select the best center on the board because your great center is a free agent next year. Then put him at guard this year to get experience at an easier position, and then he's ready to slide over to center if your All-Pro center is not re-signed. That's the exact path they wanted to take with Ugoh last year for left tackle, but Glenn's sudden retirement changed their plans.

I'm very happy with the pick even though it made it a very boring day.

What do you know about Pollak? It's a good bet he's good since Colt management likes him, but I know next to nothing about him.

In baseball terms, I felt Angelo needed to hit a homerun in the draft, but ultimately his draft right now, is more like solid basehit to left. I like Chris Williams pick. The Forte pick should COME TO NO SURPRISE to Bears fans considering, awhile back he visited Halas Hall, and Angelo, IMO just seemed to be smitten by him. So it's not a surprise to see Angelo take Forte.

It's going to be interesting in the 2nd day of the draft, to see what the Bears will do. Personally, I would like for the Bears to take another OL, perhaps a Safety, and a WR. If they can address these needs on Sunday, I think the Bears may have the most underrated draft.

Well, let's see. He's a natural leader on the field, which is essential to be the center for the Colts. He is really good at getting to the second level and is pretty agile, which means he's going to do well for the stretch play. He's more of a pass blocker than a run blocker, also a Colts trait. His great intelligence is the thing said over and over again though, and that is probably what led the Colts to pick him.

I finally got around to looking at Josh Johnson's numbers....hoooooly crap. 43 touchdowns to 1 interception? Can you do that playing catch in the front yard?

I don't think a HR was needed. The Bears are more than 1 big-time player away from being an elite team again. Just a "solid basehit" type of draft should put them in back in the playoffs with a good shot of winning at least 1 playoff game.

Sounds like a typical Colt player.

Almost as prototypical as Brian Witherspoon, eh? :D

I didn't think they valued non-LT offensive linemen enough to take a center in the second round. The thought crossed my mind, but I dismissed it, thinking they'd take a center in the mid-rounds and let Howard Mudd work his magic (Saturday was an undrafted free agent). I figured if they went this route -- it is their general strategy, but not unfailingly so (i.e., Joseph Addai, Bob Sanders) -- it would be a corner, since Kelvin Hayden's contract is also up next year.

I don't know anything about Pollak other than what I read, but I'm pleased. Interior offensive line was an immediate need and center a need for posterity.

I'm trying to find a way to like the Cowboys second rounder, but I can't just yet.

Anyone explain to me why we'd trade Fasano and then take a TE in the second round.

He's a ridiculous athlete. Now that he can focus on football fulltime, he has the chance to turn into a real playmaker.

I really wanted the Rams to take a WR in the 2nd round, but Donnie Avery. I know he is really fast, but I think they made a mistake not taking Sweed or Thomas. Oh well I think they can make it up some if they take Dan Connor, Anthony Collins, or Abibi in the 3rd round.

FWIW, I think the Bears take DT and WR in round 3. QB, OG, and FS will come in the late rounds.

I like the value in the 3rd, with Pat Sims, Dre Moore, and Marcus Harrison at DT.

You have some great after the catch type WRs in Caldwell, Manningham, Doucet, and Earl Bennett.

Value picks at other positions of need could be, Oneil Cousins- OL, Carl Nicks- OL, DaJuan Morgan-FS, Reggie Smith- CB/S, Roy Scheuning and John Greco- OG. No QB seems worthy of a 3rd rounder right now. I too would like Josh Johnson in the 4th.

I understand level of comp and all, but I don't see how a guy with his athleticism and his absolutely cartoonish numbers could go under the radar. How come nobody's ever heard of the highest rated passer in NCAA history prior to the draft? I had to double check Johnson's the numbers on another site to make sure it wasn't a typo.

yes, Dre Moore plz.....

also: Scheuning or Greco, very nice late 3rd's that help the O-line

Thanks. I guess I just thought we needed a WR. I know they didn't want Manningham and that selecting Doucet or Caldwell could have been a reach. I just don't want to go into 2008 with just Crayton and a gimpy Glenn at WR along with TO.

The Bears upgraded the OL at LT and RT by the selection of Chris Williams (Tait goes to RT). Thats further reason i like the Williams pick. Forte seems like a solid RB prospect but passing up on Brohm and Henne might bite them later on. I would of prefered Brohm over Forte, but when Angelos likes someone he drafts him regardless of where that guy might be projected to go. Its not a 'rotisserie' or 'draft value' type move but Angelos gets the guy he wants and that is hard to fault.

one reason for the Bears not drafting a guy like Brohm or Henne would be to solidify the pos. In other words, the most popular guy in Chicago come Fall is always the #2 QB. The Bears need to find a guy, and ride him out. neither Brohm nor Henne presented a sure-fire winner over Orton/Grossman. The Bears need to learn how to develop that pos. Bringing in a guy like Henne or Brohm, who many though should have gone in the 1st rd, would only intensify the haste in their development. It isnt TALENT the bears lack at QB, its patience and coaching skills. fix that first, then find they guy with the talent and drive.

he has the potential to be very very good (not Witten good), but he is still an Aggie so I doubt he is very smart. Probably would have been a 1st round pick next season. I agree though a WR would have been nice. Guess non of them are valued high enough to take in the 2nd round.

I am trying to gauge Forte's speed. He ran a 4.4 or something like that. What did Hester run? D. Manning? Forte is a solid pick, but from his combine video, I think running a little lower would be something he would work on. Solid day for the Bears though.
