Castillo, Church and Schneider have combined for 5 extra base hits in 173 AB.

Interestingly, David Wright has ~1/3 of New York's extra-base hits. He is good.

John Maine and Carlos Zambrano are both on my fantasy team, so unless they both get shelled, it's a good night for my team either way. Go Cubs!

EDIT: Also, consider me pissed that NYS blackout rules are going to force me to listen to the Mets announcers tonight.

Does anyone know the blackout situation for this game? I'm hoping that because it's on WCIU we'll get the ESPN telecast but they always seem to be blacked out.

Like the Cubs chances tonight. Zambrano has done a good job vs. Reyes, Wright, and Beltran. Castillo and Delgado are on their last legs. Schneider and Pagan are playing over their heads. Obviously, the key is getting the big 3 Mets hitters out. Not only because they can do the most damage, but because they are also their best baserunning threats. Zambrano is tough to run on, but Soto hasn't thrown all that great so far.

Take this one, and I don't care what happens tomorrow.

I think I just saw a notice on the ESPN crawl line that the game will be shown in all markets, including New York and Chicago.

I hope this is true because even in Iowa City, with no chance of getting WCIU, it gets blacked out.

I'd hate to have to go do laundry tonight instead of watching the game

It feels weird to be cautiously optimistic about us possibly being able to beat good teams.... Go Cubs...

No kidding, I haven't felt this confident about any of my favorite teams for a long time. This terrifies me because every time I am confident my favorite team crashes down to earth. You know what, I'm not so confident anymore.

Nice, thanks.

Haubrich, do you have a bigger version of your sig pic that can be used as desktop wallpaper? The bigger versions I can find seem to be grainer, oddly cropped versions.

Hot damn. I'll miss the first 20 minutes of the game due to class - but after that I get to come home and watch on TV!

Woo Woo

I'm really excited for tonight. I love Cubs baseball all the time, but when you're playing the Reds and Pirates and you're up 8-0 by the third inning, the rest of the game tends to be very dull.

Home tv or local watering hole? Can't decide.

more details needed. tv size, drinks available at home, snacks, presence of wife, etc.

52" flat screen hd. All sorts of wine, beer and booze. I think there's water and milk somewhere too. Wife's arrival time depends on how busy she is today, probably a bit before gametime (same as me). If she's home by first pitch she will most likely want to make a good dinner.

My guess is I'm going to get home before her, and therefore get dog walking duty. I'll dvr the start of the game in case I don't get back in time, then fast forward up to real time. Luckily the pooch spent all weekend wrestling other pooches and will be fine with a shorter-than-usual walk.

Been to Vick's old house?

Almost. These two dogs look vicious when they play together. It's amazing neither of them ever get hurt. But they are exhausted for a whole week.

if I could get a good meal with the game, I'd stay home

I've had this debate before with friends, and I would say the biggest variable is distractions. Depending on the restaurant/bar, you can barely hear the game half the time or miss seeing the game due to people walking around, trying to talk, etc.

Then again, if the dog or wifie or any other distraction takes away too much at home, then heading out may be the best option.

Also depends on the game: Is it highly important that you want to get into (tonight) or is it a slacker game that you might throw in the backups for some PT (see: Pirates).

In this specific case the distraction variables will be, any bar I go to will be made up with far more Mets fans than Cubs fans. Also, the home distractions are different with DVR.
