Yeah, because the Cubs batted out of order after Dusty double switched himself into confusion, from what I remember.

So the Reds are in the 17th and Aaron Harang just pitched his 4th inning in relief. Dusty was out relievers (and one other starter) by the 13th inning. Harang is now being removed for a pinch hitter so the only pitchers he has left are Arroyo, Volquez, and Cueto.

 

Please please please let this go 20+ innings.

Volquez is pitching now. Arroyo also pinch-hit earlier and did not pitch, so he's not available. If the game goes beyond what Volquez can pitch, Cueto is the only pitcher remaining for Dusty.

I know he's nearly out of pitchers, but Volquez threw 92 pitches on Friday, it should be interesting to see if he rides him for a while.

I mentioned it in the game thread, but I really wanted to see how things would play out come the 21st inning or so. Not that I could really blame Dusty by that point.(I'd probably have punted this game and pitched Freel or whomever rather than bring back Volquez 2 days after he started. But this(2 innings at least) is probably somewhat defensible(that a word?)

If I were a Reds fan I would be so upset...Harang threw 103 pitches on Thursday and then 63 more today in relief. Then Volquez throws 39 today on top of his 92 on Friday. Today's game is not worth risking those two guys.

Wenesday is a little tricky. Can you pitch Harang or Volquez on 2 days rest after this outing? Volquez in particular shouldn't have any problem, as he basically threw a side session out there.

Thursday Arroyo goes on normal rest.

Friday they're fine going with either Belisle or whoever you didn't pitch out of Harang/Volquez.

why not move arroyo up a day? either that or a AAA call-up seems to make the most sense.
