What does this prove? First of all it shows most of his runs were between 3-9.

There's 234 runs on that list and 119 are bolded, so MOST of his runs were under 3 and over 9.

Kinda like every other RB in the history of Earth.

Thus why I said I'm not sure if it is typical or not.

Here's some scouting reports on McFadden.

.Real strong...Tough and loves contact...Runs hard and does not go down easy..

-

Is going to fight for yards after the initial hits…Smooth runner between the tackles and can break it to the outside with his second gear…Good stiff arm and sells his jukes.

He can be a powerful runner with a full head of steam. Exceptional stiff arm. Very strong upper body. Keeps his legs pumping in traffic and will break many attempted arm tackles. Displays outstanding balance. Will gain lots of yards after contact simply because he bounces off the tackler and regains his balance instead of going down.

He has the rare combination of speed, vision and balance, and he doesn't shy away from hits (which gives him the ability to rack up significant yards after contact -- which NFL scouts love). He's also shown he's willing to be a physical blocker.

Then I stand correct. He's the next coming of Jim Brown.

If you go at him high, give him a chance to lower his shoulder, or get within stiff-arm range, he will gain another 2-5 yards and/or take off your helmet.

Talk about not even being close to correct. I've only seen him slam into someone once or twice. Certainly nothing close to like an AP. McFadden is a speedster and uses his speed, and not much else, to avoid contact. He's an exceptional talent, no doubt, but I just don't know how good he'll be in the pros.

Don't claim to have watched him a lot when you clearly haven't. One of my biggest concerns about his NFL prospects is that he's going to beat himself up pursuing contact as much as he tends to. My being a "homer" means nothing beyond pointing out distinct fallacies in your commentary. I haven't even claimed he's a better prospect than Mendenhall, who i'm extremely high on, so don't give me this homer business. "Speed and not much else" is in a whole other universe from the facts.

Yes, because that's exactly what the scouting report is saying. Face it, your whole argument is based on what you think you saw, not what everyone else on Earth says about him. Doesn't necessarily make you wrong, but if you aren't you have a very unique eye.

So, we should just go by what you have seen over what a clear Arkansas fan has seen and over all logic whatsoever?

A) Homers are hardly unbiased observers.

B) What logic?

The problem with that is warpt is pretty good at leaving the bias behind.

Yes. It's just my opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. My personal recollection of watching McFadden over the last 3 years is someone who is the fastest running back I've ever seen, gets past the linebackers at a pretty good clip (usually on the outside), doesn't run over people very often, doesn't juke alot, and is more likely to be pushed out of bounds than go down under contact in midfield.

The Cowboys resign Flozell Adams to a 6-year, $43 million contract with $15 million guaranteed. I'm thrilled to have him back protecting Romo's blindside.

Some updates as the FA period opens:

Corey Williams was traded to the Browns for a 2nd round pick

Vilma has been traded to the Saints for a conditional pick based on playing time

The Saints have resigned Brian Young and Mark Simoneau

The Bucs are in serious talks with Niko Koutouvides (LB-Seahawks)

Good news Browns fans! You now have no reason to watch the first day of the draft.

Yeah, no first day selections for them. Ouch.

Still, I think it's a good move for both teams. Williams didn't figure into the long-term plans here and was probably going to hit the open market next year anyway. To get a 2nd round pick for him is good for us. Plus it also gives the Browns a proven DT, and definitely helps improve their pass rush.

If someone wants Derek Anderson bad enough then they'll get a 1st and 3rd (and yes I know the first day is only 2 rounds now).

Looking over the game logs, I don't think that's true. He had only 5 runs over 30 yards all season long. That certainly doesn't scream breakaway back. He also didn't appear to have too many runs for losses or short gains. It was his runs between 5-15 yards that he did a really good job of and made his average so high.

Not sure if this typical or not of running backs. I bolded all his runs under 3 and over 10.

The real problem with this list is that it doesn't tell us when/if contact was made. We have no idea if he was untouched on those long runs or if he broke a tackle or two and got out into the open field. So these numbers are essentially useless.

I agree, yards after contact would be a great stat to have. But, check out his highlight vids. When he breaks a long run he's usually just flying right past people without so much as a tap from the defenders.

Highlight vids aren't the best way to evaluate someone's skill-set.

You brought up long runs and whether he broke a tackle or two in those runs. Highlight vids are pretty much nothing but long runs.

More FA updates:

TB Bucs sign Jeff Faine...money not announced but supposed to be highest-paid C now.

Corey Williams is supposed to sign a 6-year, $38million contract with the Browns

Justin Smiley signs a 5-year, $25 million contract with the Dolphins

The 49ers have signed DeShaun Foster, J.T. O'Sullivan, and Dontarrius Thomas.

They might be all long runs, but they're not every long run he had.

All I'm saying is the evidence you presented did nothing to argue your case. And looking at highlights--which by definition are extraordinary plays--isn't the best way to evaluate a guy's skills, either. I barely saw the guy play, so I'm not going to pretend to know whether he can take a hit or not. But the scouting report evidence is pretty hefty in favor of him being a strong runner, even in the face of contact.
