Here's a mock draft that at least picks in the right order: http://walterfootball.com/draft2008.php

Although it still has the Bears drafting a QB....sigh.

There's no way the Raiders are going to draft McFadden. They already have Justin Fargas (who had a very good year), LaMont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes. If I had to take a bet on who they are going to take - assuming they keep the 3/4 pick, whichever one they end up getting - I would bet on them taking a lineman, either offensive or defensive. Hopefully either Glenn Dorsey or Jake Long slips to the Raiders though I could see them taking Chris Long as well.

EDIT: They also could use a good WR but there aren't any worth taking that early.

Fargas is an unrestricted FA. Raiders want to keep him, but if he can be the featured guy for another team and the money is right....he'll be gone.

Yeah, a lot of top 2 round RB talent and with teams having a lot of success with non-highly drafted RBs (see NYG and GB) and teams having had a lot of success with 2 RBs (see Dallas, Chicago and Indy 06), it will be interesting to see what happens with this draft.

It is going to be interesting to see how teams use the knowledge that you don't need a franchise RB to succeed, countered by the Peterson ROY thing. Peterson may have made McFadden a few million this year. But I think most teams will be better served to wait to get RBs later. Of course, the Bears will probably be stupid and spend huge on Turner or something.

I don't think the Bears are going to draft or sign a RB. And I think the reason is Peterson, not Benson. I think you will see a lot of competition for the #1 RB spot, with the end result being shared time. Garrett Wolfe got in some action late in the year, so the Bears have 3 experienced backs. It does sound like the Bears are aware of OL problems, I think they will allow Benson 1 more year, knowing they have Peterson (who was good all around) if he fails.

He should be the feature back and even if he isn't and they let him go, Rhodes should be fine also as he had back to back 100 yard games against Jacksonville and SD at the end of the year. Either way, the Raiders don't need a running back. They have much bigger problems to fix.

We tried it last year and it kind of went awry, but would there be any interest in a 3-4 round NSBB mock NFL draft? We could start right after the combine and maybe if we could get 32 people to agree on a date and time, maybe real-time that mofo.

Well, what I thought might be more interesting if there were numerous people who wanted the same team (though we'd probably have to set a limit at 3-4, is if they all agreed to be on real time, we could create a war room, where the 3-4 discussed the pick on IM before the designated representative made the pick. As part of the pick, they might include some of the discussions that led to the pick.

It might be too much trouble, but I think it would be a lot of fun.

And so, Raisin for the Bears, I got Cowboys, next...

That would be fun too, I'd do that. I've done those at other message boards (discussion/consensus real-time mock drafts).

I think the Bears will look very strongly at signing Michael Turner.

I thought the mock went well last year, just took a little longer than I hoped. I'll be in it. I'll pretty much take any team. Dallas, Carolina and Chicago were the most interesting teams for me.

Well, pick your war room. The Bears should fill up, but I bet there will be spaces in both Carolina and Dallas. But there is a spot in the Bears if you want it.

I could be in a war room for the Colts. I don't know the prospects well, but I know what things the Colts are looking for.

If I have to, I can also be the first person for this thing. I did research the prospects last year to make the picks. It just gets harder to research when it hits the third round.

I certainly hope teams don't think McFadden is as good as Adrian Peterson, they will be sadly dissapointed.

I'd sure like to know why you say this.

Because Adrian Peterson is better @ football.

Is it possible to say something less useful than this? HOW is he better? I'll give you one way he's not better: staying healthy.
