Pirates sign Jose Macias

Pirates signed RHP Elmer Dessens, infielder Jose Macias and infielder Gabe Suarez to minor league contracts.

 

Dessens had a 7.15 ERA in 34 innings for the Dodgers and Brewers last season. The Pirates could carry him as a middle reliever, but all things being equal, they'll probably go with younger pitchers ahead of him.
