This is where he wanted to be all along. Probably very little we could have done to prevent it.

Sure there was, take him to arbitration. Give him a reasonable contract and extension. Those are two.

Here's another, not treat him like a rented mule and then insinuate he's a [expletive] to anyone that will listen.

Does this really upset anyone. He had been insinuating for a while he really didn't want to be a Cub. If things don't work out in SD the guys finished.

I agree you shouldn't call him out or rip on him if you want to re-sign him, but can someone produce evidence that proves that the Cubs really did insinuate (a subjective term, by the way) that he isn't tough? I mean, I have seen it said several times here, but that is all that I can recall.

And BTW, what is a "reasonable contract:?

I think what the Cubs were offering was reasonable.

Guys, you didn't even look at the fine print of the contract. He signed as a towel boy.

GET IT? TOWEL.

i agree that the cubs treated him poorly during his time here, but it seems clear to me that he had no interest in accepting a reasonable contract offer from the cubs.

I hope he never pitches in the majors again.

EDIT: I shouldn't say that...

I'm just pissed that he will inevitably return to 03 form eventually and it won't be as a Cub

SD isn't going to have to score much with that rotation. They will be by far the most boring team in baseball.

If he can pitch, Petco is tailored perfectly to Prior. He could have a really good season there.

Less than the Cubs were going to offer and no option. I think it's pretty clear he wanted out all along.

No option is clearly what he wanted all along. He wants to be able to come back pitch well, then shop himself on the open market. Not come back, pitch well and be stuck with a below market deal.
