not being in the report =/= not doing steroids

This is why this is a huge waste of everybody's time. Nobody's going to be exonerated ever because people have their personal beliefs on who was using and they'll never let them die. Not on the list? List must be a joke.

you missed the point.

Most of these guys are scrubs. Considering how many players were called out, I think this report favors MLB. Sure, Clemens, Pettitte, Gagne, and others are in there but overall, most of these guys are not big time players.

Well, Clemens and Bonds are the best pitcher and hitter of the last 20 or 30 years.

No doubting that. But I was expecting other big names on the list.

FWIW, for everyone crowing about Kerry Wood and Mark Prior being on the list...neither one are.

I'm happy that they aren't on the list but now that MSNBC has smeered them the suspicions won't go away.

In all honesty and with (almost) all my sosa love aside, i think it's possible that he didn't do roids. Yes his body Hulked up but he also went from being a mal-nourished dirt-poor kid to being a millionaire with access to extensive training programs and workout facilities and according to everything I've ever read - he basically lived in th gym.

Anyway, He wasn't named in the report and he has yet to have anything close to solid damning evidence put out against him so - until he does - he's clean to me.

All that said, it still seems like it was a way of life at that time in baseball so even if he did i suppose it's not that surprising.

I've heard that Sosa spent more time in the gym than any other player.

Yeah, Mitchell sucks. It's become clear he is happy for the publicity.

Also, anyone watching the ESPN feed get some strange foreign language come over the audio? That was hilarious.

Didn't Sosa also bulk up at a younger age than a lot of these guys? Like, when it would be more natural to do so.

I'm just baffled that he's gotten off clean.

I've heard that Sosa spent more time in the gym than any other player.

Stay tuned. More names to come.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/12/13/wertheimllosa.mitchellreport/index.html

While it's not hard to see why all concerned parties would like to view the Mitchell Report as both a coda and as a "vehicle for moving forward," as one MLB executive put it, the reality is far less tidy. Two ongoing criminal investigations -- BALCO and the Albany DA's prosecution of a wide-ranging Internet pharmacy pipeline -- are likely to reveal the names of additional players and distribution channels. In fact, sources close to the Albany investigation tell SI.com they believe the litany of names released on Thursday was "not at all a full and final" compilation.

Furthermore, there are also other large-scale, ongoing probes Sen. George Mitchell was clearly unable to access. For instance, there's an international DEA operation, code named "Raw Deal," that traces the movement of raw steroid and HGH powder from manufacturing labs in China to the basements and garages of American dealers. Raids have unearthed lengthy client lists and hard drive evidence that sources tell SI.com may well lead directly to the clubhouses and locker rooms of pro sports teams.

I kinda expected more from this report. Other then naming a few names of people who bought or "used" according to 2 sources mainly, this tells us nothing new. We all knew the use of roids and PEDs was there, that they needed better testing progams, that kids should be steered away from it and so on. None of this is earth shattering. Other then Selig being able to say he did something by having this investigation done, I think that has been a pretty big waste of time.

The one thing that keeps me from completely saying he did is the fact that if you look at his numbers, there actually was not a entire jump. From 94 to 98 there would have been a steady climb if he had not been injured. (He was on pace to hit over 50 in 96). While there was a jump from 97 to 98, there was still the trend.
