I don't know. I was hoping there'd be enough of the Cubs fans, like myself, who couldn't give two craps about the Sox that it would sort of mitigate that effect.

My concern would be strictly about what sort of Plan B Hendry would force upon us if that happened.

You're worried about Hendry's "Plan B From Outer Space"?

Speaking of the White Sox, their involvement in this process has been eerily silent...especially strange because their failed pursuits of Hunter and Cabrera were much more known. I wouldn't be surprised if they went in there and swooped him up with a huge offer.

I wouldn't mind that at all. Either he'll not be worth the money or he'll be in the AL, so who cares.

The WS are just another team not playing in the NL.

So if we miss out on Fukudome, do you think we have enough to get Alex Rios?? Oh wait..He's right handed....Nevermind

It sounds like Raul Ibanez would be our plan b if we miss out of Fukudome.

I'm going as nuts as everyone else is (nuttier, perhaps; I got a great Fukudome banner in the works that I don't want to finish for fear of jinxing things), but it'll happen when it happens. Heck, his agent and his team of choice could be in negotiations right now, but we won't know it until they make it official or "an anonymous source close to the negotiations" leaks it to the media.

My money is on us hearing something with tomorrow morning's news reports.

Has there been any talk on the Chicago sports talk radio on this subject today?

The discussions have been very limited. It's Bears season and a bad team seems to get people talking more than having one that plays to expectations.

I am just wondering what others are thinking Fukudome will produce next year. It is hard to tell with a player coming internationally. From everything I have read, it looks like he has some power and a good eye for taking pitches. I have heard him copared to Abreu and then to a left handed Murton.

My expectation would be a .280 BA/10-15 HRS/ 18 SB/ .380 OBP

Is that what everyone else is thinking or should I be expecting more or less?

I'd be wildly disappointed if he didn't draw a single walk all year.

.349/40-45 HRs/50 SB/.482 OBP

I would very much hope that for $15 mil a season, he's going to put up an OBP better than .280.

That aside, I think that his doubles power will translate well at Wrigley and we'll get at least 15-20 HRs from him.

If he plays long enough to accumulate 10-15 HR and 18 SB, he will walk more than 0 times.

Yea, thats what you get when you try and work and talk about the Cubs.

But, I am expecting more of a .380 OBP then a .420 + that would be what I would want for a $15 mil player who only hits maybe 20 HRS.

I wasn't sure if he was just trying to show how bad the .280 OBP that I accidently posted was or if he thought Fukudome is going to be the greatest player to ever play the game.
