Did you guys see this post on OH?

I've said it a couple of times before and I will say it again. Rich Hill and Carlos Marmol have to be the #1 and #2 key players in the Roberts/Payton deal along with Murton and probably Patterson. It might have to be a 3 for 2 deal but AM is big on 4 and 5 for one type deals. He will go for quality more than quantity I believe in this deal. Again!! We don't have to deal Roberts. He is playing great to start ST and the Cubs can do big things in 08 with him leading off. We are not giving him away. Period. Come on Cub fans. Just face reality. You aren't going to win without him. You might make the playoffs but you'll be out in the first round unless other changes are coming. Nice team but not a world series winner.

You have plenty of starters and can afford to let Hill go and you have other candidates for closer. You've got Zambrano, Lilly, Gallagher, Marquis, Lieber and Marshall if needed as starters. Payton and Murton are almost a wash from your standpoint since Murton is a part time player. Patterson is a throw in. AM should not make the Cub deal unless the above players are coming to Baltimore. If he caves in and accepts Gallagher instead of Hill then we should also nsist on Marshall being included.

I still prefer a deal with Cleveland. We could send Roberts and one or two others for Peralta, Miller, Barfield and others and flip Peralta to San Diego in a package for Khalil Greene. Believe me AM is looking at all kinds of possibilities and he is listening to his scouts. The games are important right now in ST even though there are a lot of pitchers throwing who won't make ML rosters. It's good to see these players close up before dealing for them.

I know it's going to be hard for AM to deal Roberts but he will be dealt soon or before the trade deadline this summer. This will be a tough decision for us. I think this deal will be scrutinized when completed more than the Tejada or Bedard deals have been. Be tough Andy don't give him away. I still say Hill and Marmol are the keys or no deal

Seriously, what the hell?

"I'd pay good money to see:

Roberts

Fukudome

Lee

Soriano

DeRosa

Pie"

Looking at the ticket prices you'll pay good money to see any lineup.

Sad but true

Dont know if this has been posted, from MLBtraderumors:

This morning it was reported that the Cubs had two scouts at the Orioles' spring game yesterday to watch Brian Roberts.

Now, several people have written in to let us now that Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000 is reporting that Peter Angelos has given Andy MacPhail the green light to trade Roberts. It has long been rumored that Angelos might have been holding up the trade to the Cubs because of his personal affection for Roberts. With Angelos' blessing, this deal may finally happen in the next few days.

+1 on that. There's overvaluing players and then there's plain craziness. I think that post is as delusional as they come.

Baltimore didn't get that much talent for Tejada or Bedard. Why would he think the O's would get that for Roberts?

Most OH posters aren't that bad. Us looking at those posts is like them looking the crap DeuceBaseman or wrigley23 would say. Each community is entitled to its share of junk.

The scary part is DeuceBaseman posts the same kind of stuff over there.

Bruce Levine just reported on Espn radio Chicago Angelos has given permission to AM to trade Roberts and a deal could be done soon it is just a matter of the Orioles scouts looking at a player or 2. Which he said the are 2 scouts there as of yesterday. They all but agreed on 3 players as of now. There may be another player coming back from the Orioles as well.

According to the guy on OH

This isn't true BTW. I was listening to the show this morning and Levine said, something to the effect, Angelos appears to have approved the trade of Roberts because the trade talks were heating up again (with the scouts in attendance).

I definitely want Theriot nowhere near the top of the order either, but him and Pie in some combination of 7/8 is going to make for a brutal last 3rd of the lineup.

If Roberts ends up coming, I'd probably do this-

Soriano

Roberts

Lee

Ramirez

Fukudome

Soto

Pie

Theriot

The top 6 looks really good, but the last 3 look brutal.

Better to group the brutal hitters at the bottom of the order than to spread them out (re: Theriot batting 2nd) in the order.

and even though the last 3 look brutal, Pie is developing and gettning him at bats down there is beneficial in the long run, and Theriot isn't as much of an automatic out as lemons of years past. I'll take that lineup.

Best to give them the least amount of ABs

On the Score this morning, they said "Score sources" had learned that the Brian Roberts deal would already be done, except that Angelos got involved.

They can't even come up with creative rumors anymore. It's all stuff that's been said before!

LOL.

I haven't read this since page 200. Nothing has changed. I love it.

I really hope that this is some elaborate gag run by Angelos just to mess with us. I hope he's sitting at his desk reading this laughing his butt off.

It's a message board thread.

I'm sure this has been asked like 14 times in the entirity of this thread but I'll be damned if I'm looking for it. Is this the longest thread ever to be posted on NSBB? Just curious.

There was a chitchat thread once in social. I'm not sure but I think some transactions and or game threads may top this as well.

The Movie thread is longer. The Milestone Post thread is only 209 pages long. I expect this thread to be the longest on the site currently in a week or so, passing the movie thread.

I tried to find a bit of Brian Roberts news to go along with this, but it's not easy. I can tell you that the sentiment from Orioles fans increasingly seems to be that they would like to keep Roberts and wait for the trade deadline rather than get rid of him for middling players like the Cubs have. I happen to not agree with them (I think the Orioles would be best served making the trade if they get Gallagher+2 others) but it is interesting to track how both fanbases perceive the trade as time goes on.
