So something may happen in the next week?

...or it may not!

Awesome

I heard the Cubs are trying to show respect to the political process and wait until the Democrats decide their presidential nominee.

Nah, I hear they want to be respectful and let the entire Presidential campaign have its time in the sun so this trade will happen in November.

Even better.

Changed the topic. I'll always remember the day that I contributed such to a truly epic thread. It's like having a line as an extra in Braveheart. Like getting your name in the credits of the "Thriller" album. Like catching a walkoff HR in the stands of game 7.

I also have the distinction of being the 1st response in this thread.

You only had 3 posts when you sent that response.

Britney Spears still wore panties when he sent that response.

My prediction on the players involved:

Fuld, Patterson, Cedeno, Veal/Ceda and Marquis for Roberts, Payton and a b Player.

Wishful thinking. No Gallagher = No trade.

I'd kill for Cuse's deal but no way that happens.

Yup, Fuld means nothing to them, they are satisfied with their OF of Luke Scott, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis (which is actually pretty good). Murton MIGHT interest them over Scott but including him even wouldn't be overwhelming. Pie would get them talking (but of course we won't do that.)

The rest of the deal looks up to par, but you're going to have to switch Fuld with Gallagher unfortunately.

Ideally, I'd love Gallagher, Patterson, Veal, Marquis for Roberts and Payton, but I don't think the Orioles would do that.

i'm not sure why they'd want Pie unless they would plan to spin either Pie or Jones in another trade. why trade for two CF prospects in the same off season?

I added Fuld for depth for them. He's not a starter but he would help them cover the 3 positions as a fifth of/pinch runner.

Last night on Sports Central Kaplan asked that exact question and the Baltimore writer said he thought the O's would be happy to have Pie (not Murton) play LF for them.

If Hendry gives up Pie and Gally this deal ain't so good. Add to that if Payton comes over and it smells real bad....really really bad.

Pie's value is so much lower as a corner outfielder. Baltimore is dumb, but we already knew this

Although the O's would love Pie, neither the writer or Kaplan thought the Cubs would part with him. The Baltimore writer thought the deal would be 4 for 1. Gallagher and Cedeno (for sure) and then possibly Patterson and Ceda. If Marquis goes to the O's then Payton comes back to the Cubs.

Can someone recap this thread? Thanks!

1. Roberts is coming to the Cubs

2. OH Insiders know all

3. OH Insiders suck

4. Roberts is NOT coming to the Cubs

5. Hendry, Steve Stone are all-knowing demi-gods who clearly understand better than anyone else how to construct a World Series winning team

6. Sori will definitely be moved down in the order if Roberts is acquired

7. The above won't happen b/c Sori sucks w/ guys on base

8. Sliding into 1st base is sound technique (proven by scientific study)

9. Continually citing Hendry, et al as true experts beyond reproach trumps all other arguments

10. Roberts MIGHT come to the Cubs

11. Putting posters on "ignore" is a godsend

12. This thread is epic potpourri...

I'm sure I missed plenty, but those are the highlights that stick out in my mind.....
