For those who need their fix:

Belkast:

As much as I like Roberts, I don't see him being here on Opening Day. I think it is absolutely necessary to trade him and continue to rebuild this team. My understanding is the talks are way more serious then the media is picking up on. My prediction- The Cubs will get him soon.

When asked if he thinks PA will sign off on it:

I sure do!!!

Enjoy 8-)

Has BigBird verified this info?

I know you're joking, but it was actually bigbird who asked if he thought PA would sign off on it. He's been pretty pessimistic about Angelos actually approving a Roberts trade.

He was the one who asked Belkast if he thought PA would sign off on it.

A little more from Belkast for anyone who wants the info... He's not saying much specifically, but there's a little more info to fuel speculation.

When asked if the players were the same ones we've been hearing...

Not all of the same names.

When asked if they'd be getting players that would be on their 40 man...

Most likely would get players that wouldn't be on our 40 man.

Again, no specifics. Some will say that's because he's making it up. Others will say it's because he doesn't want to/can't offer up more than that for public consumption. Your prerogative.

Erasure was pretty good.

I try to discover

A little something to make me sweeter

Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart

I'm so in love with you

I'll be forever blue

That you give me no reason

Why you're making me work so hard

That you give me no

That you give me no

That you give me no

That you give me no

Soul, I hear you calling

Oh baby please give a little respect to me

I love that song!

So I'm pretty sure I'm about to get banned from OH. Some guy proposed a Roberts/Payton/Sherrill trade for Gallagher/Colvin/Murton/Cedeno/Patterspn/Veal trade and I responded by saying it would be a terrible trade for the Cubs. Of course, I immediately feel the wrath of Roberts lovers, having to endure such statements as "Gaha, it's ludicrous to say that that's a bad deal for the Cubs. You'd be getting out all-star second basemen and our closer! You saying that would be a bad deal for the Cubs literally made my jaw fall to the floor!"

Seriously, did Roberts cast some kind of spell on these guys or something?

Bruce Levine is on ESPN 1000 now saying the Red Sox and Angels are both after Marquis. He went on to say that the Cubs would as for Crisp from Boston...

I would take a bag of sunflower seeds for Marquis..His ERA in AL would be above 10..I doubt we package something to get Figgins...How much is Crisp owed?? Whatever it takes to dump Marquis' salary is fine with me.

The day the Brian Roberts trade happens, I'm locking this thread forever. It can't be allowed to live beyond the "rumor" stage.

What if the rumors die down in Spring Training, but then heat up again at the trade deadline?

Then we'll keep it going and shoot for 500 pages.

It will be our responsibility (much like the Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) to protect this thread and keep it alive so long as we live - and Brian Roberts is not yet a cub. I envision the year 2078 when our children's children are on NSBB talking about baseball on played on the moon (The Lunar Lions? The Sea of Tranquility Stars?) that even though Brian Roberts is not yet a Cub, some day he will come again and be traded to the Cubs or signed by Jim Hendry, IV.

So yer saying this thread will continue unless Elsa crosses the seal?

Yes. And remember: Only the penitent man will pass.

I'm debating turning this into a lolcats thread if things continue on their downward course.

I thought Hendry didn't want Crisp.

I don't know one way or the other. The way he said it, it seemed like the Crisp part was a throw in comment; maybe his own guess or maybe he's right. He sounded more definitive about the teams involved.

Could also just be spec. Who knows at this point...

I heard the Levine thing as well. He was asked if any other teams were interested in the Cubs "extra" starting pitchers. He said he knew Boston and Anaheim were interested in Marquis and said if it is a deal with Boston, Crisp will be coming back. It didn't sound like he was throwing Crisp out as an idea, rather saying if Marquis is traded to Boston he had no doubt it would be for Coco.

That said, he is Bruce Levine, so it's all probably BS anyway.

Bruce Miles said earlier in this thread that the Cubs aren't really interested In crisp and that they don't see him as an upgrade. I'd very much believe Miles over Levine.

So now that Peace21 has officially retired from OH, who's the main "insider" over there now Belkast, Big Bird or some other goofy name?
