there's no way we're trading Pie or Hill for Roberts. I don't have any problems giving them Marshall, Gallagher, or Epatt though.

Epatt is probably involved too if I had to guess. No room for him in center, we'd be getting a 2b, below average O for a corner OF, and IMO Tony Thomas can become just as good a prospect by the time we are looking for 2B prospects again.

Rotoworld was speculating that it was EPatt & Hill or Felix Pie & Sean Marshall/Sean Gallagher

Eww. I'd do Patterson and Marshall/Gallagher, but not Pie and certainly not Hill.

Rotoworld is not all that great at speculating.

Yeah, but that is just pure speculation from whoever posted it. It's not like they know anything legit.

Hill for Roberts? I doubt that's even a possibility.

Does anyone have a picture of Roberts wearing those freaky contact lenses?

Someone mentioned how we need to shed payroll if we got Roberts and Fukudome. Anyone think that we lost Fukudome so Hendry has money to spend now and can acquire a 2B making 6.3 million?

By the way: I predict this thread will go at LEAST 132 pages before we get some sort of resolution one way or another....

If we don't include Hill in the deal, I wonder if MacPhail would agree to take a Gallagher/Patterson type combo, but then insist that the Cubs take back a bad salary (i.e. Jay Payton's $5M in 2008) in addition to Roberts. That's what I'd do if I'm MacPhail.

It's no secret that MacPhail believes that an organization should be built first and foremost around pitching.

The first player has to be Gallagher.

I'd be willing to bet that the second player is a pitcher also.

Petrick, Roquet, Ceda, Veal.

As i've said earlier in this thread, the O's really don't have anyone good (yet alone young) in LF. Murton makes sense. BTW, I don't like the way this is put as a "three player deal". I interpret it as us trading 3 players, but Rotoworld assumes it as us giving up 2 players and Roberts counting as the 3rd player. Could be either.

I personally wouldn't have any problem with sending them Pie and a lower level pitching prospect. My perception is that Pie is not going to develop into an elite or even All-Star caliber hitter in the major leagues. I may be wrong.

I'd be happy if Felix ends up a .270/.350/.410 guy. His defense also makes him valuable.

Agreed...especially if we sign Fukudome to play CF. Problem is, then you have NSBB favorites DeRosa and Murton splitting time in RF, which doesn't make sense since they're very similar players (and both very average defensively)

DeRosa actually plays an above average RF.

I've been trying to get on there the last couple of days but you now have to be a member. Any of their insiders saying anything?

How serious are these talks, I wonder. I really like Brian Roberts, he'd look very good hitting between Sori and Lee.

Soriano

Roberts

Lee

Fuk

Aramis

That's a solid 1-5.

Nothing really.

Of course, the consensus there is that they want Hill + Pie for Roberts. If it's Gallagher, they want Gallagher + Pie + Patterson.

I've learned since reading that board, that they expect a lot for their players.

You should pop that huge bubble that is their trade return expectations.

I dont have accss, care to post some snipets?

Most of them are expecting to get Pie and Hill back in the trade. There is also a thread wondering if the Cubs have enough to get BRob and Bedard. Most of them think we probably don't have enough to get both BRob and Bedard. I tend to agree.
