If all this puts Illinois in the Rose Bowl, it'll be their first since 1984, third-longest drought in the conference (Indiana, Minnesota)

I dont see how this wont put U of I in the Rose.

Ohio State moves into the National Championship and the Rose Bowl has tried its hardest to keep its Big 10/Pac 10 matchup since the implementation of the BCS system.

Right which is why I said I dont see how this wont put U of I in the Rose

Doesn't LSU almost have to jump Georgia? Both have 2 losses, LSUs came in a combined 6 OTs. I just don't see the justification in taking a team in a conference over the conference champion.

So we may be looking at a Georgia-Ohio State NC game....

Hopefully not.

....I'd be happy seeing Georgia or LSU play the Buckeyes. It really doesn't matter to me which of the two gets the opportunity...hopefully both won't be snubbed.

I think OK should have a case to be in over Georgia or LSU. They lost 2 games by a total of 10 points.

Virginia Tech has a more legitimate claim, considering the two games they lost were to ranked teams in LSU and BC. Oklahoma lost to Colorado and Texas Tech.

Probably but I think a case can be made that Georgia is playing the better football right now, and quite possible is the better team right now.

I won't argue with this but it has happened twice in the last 6 years.

Their case strengthens if OU loses, but considering the BCS expanded the potential pool of teams to play in the bowls, I really think the fact that OSU will be in the National Championship game, the Rose Bowl committee will give serious consideration to the second best Big 10 team.

It's funny, considering Illinois would be a top 10 team if they hadn't lost to freaking Iowa.

Kansas only has 1 loss, correct? And to a better opponent than LSU (Kentucky, Arkansas). Why not them (I know, no good wins), but what the hell. If you're going to have a BS champion, why not give them a chance?

LSU did beat Virginia tech 8737367737 to 3 though.

LSU lost by a total of 8 in 2 OTs.

What about Kansas? I think they have just as good an argument as Georgia.

I don't see why LSU and Georgia are being considered and USC isn't.

And LSU lost two games by a total of 8 points...both in 3OT.

But had a few close games also

It's worth pointing out that Kansas actually ranked slightly higher than Georgia in the computers coming into today.

how about USC?

Exactly......I'm a Notre Dame fan so it kills me to say this but who would USC be underdogs to at this point? Can you imagine if there was none of this BCS stuff and it was like the old days? January 1 would be full with about 5 meaningful bowl games and it would be beyond awesome.

Yep. Granted they have a much worse loss than those two teams but they also have a best loss, so to speak, out of those teams (as Oregon's final rank will be deceiving since they tanked after Dixon went down).

I can't see why Georgia would get in over LSU.

Georgia has two losses. They lost by 4 to South Carolina; Lost to Tennessee by 21.

LSU has two losses, to Kentucky in 3 OT by 6 and to Arkansas by 2 in 3 OT.

In looking for quality wins, both teams have wins over Bama, Florida, and Auburn.

Georgia adds Georgia Tech and Kentucky.

LSU adds Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

It looks to me (and maybe I'm a homer), that the case is that if the choice is between LSU and Georgia, it should be LSU.

And Booty's injury was a big factor in USC losing both games.

USC lost to Stanford. If you consider them with this loss, you have to consider WVU with the loss tonight. Sadly, USC would probably beat the crap out of OSU. But they don't deserve a chance.
