Doesn't LSU almost have to jump Georgia? Both have 2 losses, LSUs came in a combined 6 OTs. I just don't see the justification in taking a team in a conference over the conference champion.

I won't argue with this but it has happened twice in the last 6 years.

Something worth noting:

-Oklahoma played in their conference championship game and lost to Kansas State in 2003. At least they actually made it to their conference championship game.

-Nebraska was shut out of their conference championship game in 2001.

I think the choice should come down to either LSU, USC, or Kansas.

If Georgia or VTech get in, I'll be pissed simply because I think LSU has a better case than both of those.

I couldn't make the same argument of LSU over USC or Kansas.

I don't think Hawaii is all that good, but if they made it I could accept that as well.

USC lost to Stanford. If you consider them with this loss, you have to consider WVU with the loss tonight. Sadly, USC would probably beat the crap out of OSU. But they don't deserve a chance.

Heck, why not give consideration to WVU in that case? We're giving it to all of the other conference champions!

I can't see why Georgia would get in over LSU.

Georgia has two losses. They lost by 4 to South Carolina; Lost to Tennessee by 21.

LSU has two losses, to Kentucky in 3 OT by 6 and to Arkansas by 2 in 3 OT.

In looking for quality wins, both teams have wins over Bama, Florida, and Auburn.

Georgia adds Georgia Tech and Kentucky.

LSU adds Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

It looks to me (and maybe I'm a homer), that the case is that if the choice is between LSU and Georgia, it should be LSU.

If you're going to add South Carolina for LSU, you need to add Oklahoma State for Georgia.

In just about every computer ranking, Georgia had a slightly harder schedule then LSU did coming into today. The SEC title game should probably tilt that to make LSU have the slight edge in the schedule, but it will be close.

Kansas only has 1 loss, correct? And to a better opponent than LSU (Kentucky, Arkansas). Why not them (I know, no good wins), but what the hell. If you're going to have a BS champion, why not give them a chance?

No legit wins. If you're gonna put a team in that didn't win it's conference, you go georgia

Yep. Granted they have a much worse loss than those two teams but they also have a best loss, so to speak, out of those teams (as Oregon's final rank will be deceiving since they tanked after Dixon went down).

And Booty's injury was a big factor in USC losing both games.

The same could be said for WVU with Pat White, though,

I'd like to see Georgia beat OSU in the title game, just for the confusion. I liked when you could share the national title. We could have about 9 champions this year.

I know you're trying to not be a complete homer but Kansas is more deserving than Georgia is. That's not to say Kansas is the most deserving out of all the teams for the 2 spot but they should get it before Georgia.

My feeling is that LSU and Georgia had similar schedules. Both had 2 losses. LSU's game in OT. Georgia had one close loss and another where they were blown out by a team that LSU beat for the SEC championship.

Who the hell did Kansas beat?

Conference Champions and their losses:

Ohio State: #15 Illinois

OU (assuming status quo): Texas Tech and Colorado

Southern Cal: Stanford and #17 Oregon

Virginia Tech: #7 LSU and #11 Boston College

WVU: #21 South Florida and Pittsburgh

LSU: Arkansas and Kentucky

Seriously, you can make a case for any of those five being #2 behind Ohio State. Heck, you could probably make a case that all five of those teams are markedly better than OSU!

So, the questions are who do you take with Ohio St.:

- Do you take the only undefeated team with a horribly weak schedule

- Do you take the only other 1 loss team, who didnt make their conference championship, but have the most quality loss of the group.

- Do you take the team with 2 losses that is playing the best football in the country

- Do you take the team that won the best conference in the country

- Do you take the team that lost 2 games without it's QB, and is easily the most talented team of the bunch

- Do you take the team that is fresh off of beating the #1 team

FWIW, Va Tech shouldn't really be in the discussion.

I dunno. Georgia has some real wins against top competition. And I'm not saying I'd put Georgia in. I'm saying if you're gonna pick one of the teams that didn't even make its conference championship, you go w Georgia. Their resume is stronger, IMO.

they beat Colorado who beat Oklahoma who is beating Missouri again who beat Kansas

ergo, they're better than themselves

Why does OSU even get a free pass? They played a ridiculous schedule, lost at home, and didn't have to play in a conference champ. game.

yeah, it's pretty silly.

OSU is the Big 10 conference champion. Doesn't matter that they don't have a championship game like the ACC, Big 12 and SEC. They won the conference.

If this doesn't prove once and for all how woefully inadequate the BCS is, then nothing will.

There's literally no way possible that the championship game doesn't become a farce. No way you can tell me the two teams that will play are the undisputed most deserving. About 10 teams have pretty much a legit argument this year.

Please end this madness. It has never worked, and it won't magically begin to.
