This was so obviously going to happen that it barely deserves a thread. Come on, did anyone not think this was going to happen?

Jim Hendry must be stopped before it's too late.

We need to send in a team to take care of him. Who's interested in volunteering?

Here's the real question. If we were to acquire aging former Brewer left handed slugger Geoff Jenkins would he outproduce aging former Brewer left handed slugger Jeromy Burnitz?

Burnitz 2005 line with the Cubs: .258/.322/.435

I loved Burnitz because of his attitude. That's the only reason to love him.

I'll look forward to when we sign Prince Fielder.

12 years from now.

His knees will collapse under his weight by then.

Relax guys...while he isn't the best option, he's not the worst either.

I'm sure if we were to get Jenkins for RF, it'd be a Murton/Jenkins platoon.Murton can hit LHs, and Jenkins has some LH pop. He was also a much better hitter in day games last year (.303/.349/.563 in 142 AB)

If we can get Jenkins on a 1-2 year deal for less than 10 mil (total, not per), I'll take a Jenkins/Murton platoon. I think I'd honestly rather have Murton take all the ABs, but Hendry/Piniella seem dead set on having a LH bat in this lineup, despite the fact that we struggle more with LHs than RHs anyways.

This complaining about interest in Jenkins is excessive. It reminds me of Phillies fans complaining that they might get Mike Lamb for 3b instead of Mike Lowell for 4/60. The snazzy name value is nil, but compare the prices.

I'm not sure what the options are. Why shouldn't Hendry be looking at Jenkins? It's not like the article said "Hendry is ignoring Fukudome and in love with Jenkins." Every year unexpected things happen in the market. What happens if someone offers 4/60 for Fukudome? I wouldn't go there. The Crawford trade didn't seem legitimate from the beginning. Where does that leave you? Hopeless internet trade scenarios concocted as to how to get Alex Rios, Brad Hawpe, etc.? People start asking "Hey, can Chad Tracy or Dan Johnson play right field?"

I don't think plunking down $14-16 million a year over 4-6 years for guys like Hunter and Rowand is any good.

Jenkins and Murton could be productive.
