Rank Rose, mayo, beasley for me, for those of you who've been lucky enough to see them play. I'm hearing a lot of impressive stuff RE Beasley.

I put Rose at the top, then Mayo and then Beasley, but that's probably because I've always been a guard guy. Beasley is sort of the same deal as Mayo, as far as having incredible talent, but sometimes a lack of drive. He should be the top freshman in the Big XII and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make second team all-conference.

I like Beasley, Mayo, Rose, then Gordon based on pure talent. I honestly think Gordon will be the best player this year and at the next level, based on what I have heard about his work ethic and basketball knowledge.

Also, you shouldn't be shocked if Beasley is 2nd team all Big XII. It would probably be a big disappointment if he's NOT. He has as good a shot as any (except for Rush and Augustin) to be the 1st team.

I like Rush's game a lot (I really wanted him at OU, and at one point it looked like we had him) but he won't be full speed form that knee injury until December or January, and you never know how those type of things will effect a slasher until they get out on the court.

But you're probably right about him being on the first team. I like Arthur at Kansas and Jones at A&M, but neither have a smidgen of the talent that Beasley does.

I like Gordon's game a lot, but no way does he have a shot to be the best pro. He is a 6'2" SG. He is too undersized imo to be a better pro than Rose or Mayo. I really think there are 4 point guards in all of basketball better than Rose right now. Nash, Kidd, D Williams, and Chris Paul.

I'll be very interested to see how Arthur looks this year. I don't bother comparing him to guys like Rose, Mayo, Gordon, Beasley because he's a completely different type of player. He supposedly was dominating the US team before he fractured his foot, though.

Rush will be interesting, too. If he is still significantly slower by March, I agree with Raw's call that we won't reach the FF.

Illiniguy--I left Gordon off the list because A: I've never seen him play either. And B. I forgot bout him. All I I've seen is about 3 seconds of Beasley in Mcd AA game, so I'm not really qualified to rank any of them.

DePaul season opener tonight!!!!

HUGE game for DePaul and Wainwright. If they lose, it'll be another unexciting year and likely NIT berth. Standard issue DePaul basketball unfortunately.

However, if they can beat Creighton and then Northwestern next weekend, they will be 4-0 heading into Kansas...where Wainwright beat Kansas with his undermanned Richmond squad.

I'm crossing my fingers. So far I haven't been that impressed with Wainwright.

I think he has recruited quite well at DePaul. Kowshal and Tucker should be very good players.

No Donte Greene? He's going to be Kevin Garnett like. I like what I see form this young man and I haven't been this pleased with any freshman since Melo.

Except for Gordon is 6'4" and can handle the ball and pass well enough to play point if he needed to, although the 2 would be his best spot. He could be a Mitch Richmond type at the next level. He has a similar type of build.

The Lickliter era begins tonight!

Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised with a loss to Idaho State. Freeman is out 4-6 weeks. So we now have 10 players on our roster and 4 guys who can legitimately play the 1, 2 and 3 spots. Two of the four are freshman and the other is a former walkon. Yikes.

UCLA wins it 69-48 in the season opener. It was only Portland State but Love looked freaking impressive with 21 pts and 13 boards. Shipp was great too.

SIU's first regular season game isn't until next Saturday against Northern Illinois and the long layoff is a good thing. Josh Bone had a slight separation of his shoulder in practice and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. Hopefully he'll be ready to go for our Thanksgiving tournament in Anaheim.

Mitch Richmond was 6'6". If Gordon really is 6'4", I am more sold on him. I really think though that EJ will be the best college guy and Rose the best pro.

Beasley set a conference rebound record against Sacramento State tonight with 24.

Kid's going to be a monster, imo.

I like him the best of the 3 main publicity Freshman.

Iowa beat Idaho State 58-43 last night. Defense held them to 16 in the first half as Idaho State kept chucking bad 3's repeatedly.

Justin Johnson was 7-12 from 3. Freshman Jeff Peterson looked very good at PG. 12 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 0 turnovers in 38 minutes. He came in with the rep as a smart floor general but he's quicker than I expected and really can handle it. Unfortunately there's no one else to share the duties while Freeman is out.

They blew a 17 point lead, only to lose by 12. They gave that game away.

What a ugly, ugly game. They choked when Creighton added any pressure.
