Duke just needs to beat UNC to lock one up, even though they are vastly overrated.

What makes you think we are vastly ovverrated? Because we do not have a really good post player? We played Carolina, Clemson, and Wisconsin whose strengths are all heavily on the inside and won all three of them and blew out Wisconsin. And Lance Thomas is starting to come on, he had 10 points against UNC.

I think you guys run a gimmicky offense. You beat UNC, but I think that's one of the worst defensive teams I've seen, and they were without one of the two players they have to have. I also would hesitate to say their strength is in the post. Aside from TH, their strength is guard play/swingmen. You were also unconscious from 3pt land.

Duke is certainly better than I gave them credit for at the start of the season. But Paulus is garbage, and I think a team with good guards and an athletic front line locks them down. However, your 3 pt shooting makes you dangerous to anybody. And Singler is very good.

I'll admit that Purdue is better than Ohio St. now. MSU and Wisconsin are both better than them, and IU probably is too.

Its funny that Purdue took a page out of the UW book to beat them twice this season. They hustle, they're deep, they're versatile, don't make many mistakes, and they get in your face defensively. Seems like a team that will have trouble in a more closely called NCAA tourney game. They have a clear edge in the title race, being they only have 3 tough games left vs. MSU and on the road at IU and OSU. MSU has to go on the road to the other top B10 teams and has IU at home. Wisc. only has 3 more at home and 1 is MSU. IU has 5 tough games left, but 4 of them at are home.

Purdue is gonna be a very touch matchup for IU, because they do a lot of the same things well that IU does well (shoot the 3, FTs, run the floor). The difference will be the major differences, Purdue's defense, IUs rebounding.

I think it all comes down to the Calasan vs D.J. White match up. Can Calasan contain him defensively enough that he won't go nuts on the interior and can Calasan get his 3point shot going enough that it spreads IU's defense out?

Calasan is no match for DJ. He does have some size, but he's weak on the boards, has no offensive game, and is foul prone. After him, their only "big" is 6'10", 210lb Johnson, who would get destroyed. I don't worry about a big man shooting the 3 with the zone we've been playing. In fact, I'd dare Calasan to shoot all night.

I do worry about the slashing and them being able to get DJ in foul trouble on some help defense.

Calasan does like to bang inside though. So we'll see how effective he can be. Calasan won't be shooting all night but he will be one of many 3 point threats on the floor.

DJ will be key for IU and should have a big game. The Badgers went away from the inside game and didn't get nearly enough touches in the post, although part of that had to do with the fact they were constantly getting fouled and taken out of their offense. The Badgers shot 30 freethrows and just as easily could have shot 60, the refs allowed Purdue to grab and handcheck on the perimeter all night long making it virtually impossible for the Badgers to get into their offense.

What do you think of the ND/UCLA rivalry resuming next season, Raisin? I like it for purely selfish reasons - we'll finally have a marquee non-conference game on the schedule yearly, and having a road game at Pauley will do wonders for the resume, barring a complete beatdown.

The Irish are a 3 seed in Bracketology this week - I would've given us a 4, but if they go to UConn and win (then take care of business against Rutgers), they'd have to be a 3.

It'll be good to resume a classic rivalry from yesteryear. For now, I believe it is still just a home-and-home.

Sounds like an invitation for a liquor-addled Digger Phelps to ramble on about his glory days. No thanks.

K.C. Rivers shoots the ball with 4 seconds left to win the game, and it hits every part of the rim but does not go in, Carolina is so damn lucky.

Yes, we sure are awfully lucky to lose the most important player on our team, when his only reliable backup is out for the season, three days before the most important game of the season thus far, and a week before another very significant game. Oh, and Clemson's out-of-sight 3-point line in regulation sure was lucky for Carolina (admittedly, that had a lot to do with poor perimeter defense, but still).

There are a lot of ways you could describe Carolina. "Pretty good," "inconsistent," "fun to watch," "poor on defense," "fast," these are all reasonable things to say. But I sure don't see what makes them so lucky.

Also, I cannot wait to get the ball out of Quentin Thomas' hands. Even when the stat line looks okay, as it does in this most recent game, he's still terrible. Ty Lawson can't come back too soon.

He is a Duke fan, waht do you expect? I love earlier when he talked about how they handled Wisconsin easily. Yeah that is what happens when Wiscy's point guard has two fouls in the first minute. But, I was assured that is because the super crafty and gritty coach K actually teaches his kids to draw fouls on the opposing players. You know coaching, the only true coach in America.

Unlike certain First Take hosts, Notre Dame-related ESPN personalities don't wander around drunk.

Aboya had two broken bones underneath his eye that had just recently healed.

"You can't throw the ball at a player if it's an unsporting act,'' [Pac-10's coordinator of men's basketball officiating] Bill McCabe said. "If you were trying to throw the ball off someone and have it go out-of-bounds, than it is open to interpretation."

The intent was freaking clear as day.

I think I just saw the single worst call of my life to end the Villanova-Georgetown game.

Absolute injustice.

It's not that he called it with 0.1 seconds to go, it's that IT WASN'T EVEN A DAMN FOUL. Quite possibly the worst call I've ever seen considering circumstance, and in my case, it cost ND first place in the Big East.

The Clemson game last night, took two overtimes even though you guys took 35 free throws and Clemson took 7. (i understand the hypocrisy of this statement). Clemson had a whole bunch of shots to win the game that rimmed out.

First Clemson game- Clemson gambles and misses on the pass and Ellington makes a shot to win the game in the last 5 seconds in overtime

Georgia Tech- They miss two open shots in the last 10 seconds that both would have won the game.

Wasn't even the worst call of Villanova's life. '05 tourney screams out.

Wow Augustine doesn't make his first field goal until 5 minutes left in the game yet Texas is leading. Not exactly what I would expect under those circumstances, yet I will take it.

We're not as good as I thought we were. Not even close.

I've been calling it all year. KU is a real good team, but they aren't special. I have never seen them as a Final 4 team at any point.

and.... We're back in the driver's seat. I hope we don't have any more disappointing losses like the one at Mizzou.

I dont think there are any "special" teams in college basketball this year. Memphis is the closest one, but them playing in a weak conference could bite them. The tourney this year is very wide open.

Purdue had eight more fouls called on them than Wisconsin. We all know how terrible Big Ten officials are, but I'm confident in saying that they aren't favoring Purdue every single game. When you consider Purdue has won 12 of its last 13 games and is 6-4 in road/neutral site games this season, it's obvious that the Boilers are doing something right. Of course there have been fouls that haven't been called, but there is no denying that Purdue is a damn good defensive team.

They are a great defensive team, quick as hell. They are so deep, they can afford to play that aggressive in your face pressure defense that disrupts the other team from getting into their offense. I didn't mean to diss Purdue, I think Painter has done a wonderful job of getting this young team to buy into his philosophy and execute - they simply outplayed the Badgers from the get go. I was just pointing out that they could also be called for a foul just about everytime they setup in their half court defense with all of the handchecking and grabbing that goes on. It could come back to hurt them in the tourney though as a lot of that will not be allowed.
