Mizzou shoots out of their mind from 3 and upsets #12 Texas 97-84. :shock: :shock: :shock: Hopefully they can carry this through the week into Ames against Iowa St. and against Kansas next weekend.

 

What the hell! I've been sleeping the last three hours (a little hung over) and when I woke up I fully expected to see the score say Texas by 20+! Damn the basketball team! Now I may have to go to some games.

 

Also, I'd hold off on thinking you have to go to some games. It'd be just like this team to beat UT by double-digits and then get stomped by Iowa State on Wednesday.

I love our team, but we're EXTREMELY young. We have a ton of talent though. I honestly believe that with Hoskins (he won't be back this year) we'd be a top 10 team. He's the one piece we're missing. That being said, our freshmen are starting to learn how to play together. Should be a fun Big 12 season.

The Hoskins thing really sucks. He's a player, and he's fun to watch.

 

Brandon Rush going off in the 1st half here. KU should run more plays for him to be a spot-up shooter. He still isn't great off the bounce, but man he can shoot.

I'm going to go home for the KSU/KU game in Manhattan.. Should be fun. They look VERY good in the first half against NU. Gonna be a fun game to go to with a lot of run and gun basketball and a WHOLE lot of great athletes.

Oh wow. Too bad I can't really laugh at that as SIU lost to Indiana State in double OT on a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left. The score was like 47-47 after regulation. lol, this season is a joke.

Neither team could make a shot. We shot 27.5% from the field and were 5-21 from 3. They shot 31% from the field and 3-12 from 3. Justin Johnson was 1-11, 0-7 from 3 and had a lot of open looks. Freeman had 22 points and did a hell of a job on Neitzel. He really denied the ball and just didn't give him more than a couple of good looks. Both he and Morgan played passive.

 

The key was we only had 8 turnovers to their 18 and we shot 29 free throws to their 4 (although we shot probably 10 in the last minute or so). They just didn't go inside much and didn't attack. They really wanted to run but Lick had us conceding the offensive glass to get back in transition and we pretty much made them defend for 30 seconds every possession.

 

Strange game. We didn't play nearly as well as we did against Indiana. We missed 13 free throws and a lot of open shots. They just played terribly. Only 18 points in the last 28 minutes.

Ok so today is the day the Illini get to face IDKWTI. I fully expect the Illini to get their ass beat, which I can live with if at some point during this game somebody knocks the holy hell out of IDKWTI. Is that probably wrong, yes, but at this point in the season I dont care. Ill be pissed if there isnt a flagrant today.

Flagrant foul won't happen in Bloomington. In Champagne, I look for it to happen constantly. I think we pull out a close one. I hate playing a team that's playing so poorly, and obviously have something to get up for. But IU has the advantage of this being their first home conference game, and also having the students back in town, with the spring semester starting tomorrow. BTW, what is IDKWTI?

 

Also, the Iowa win makes IU look a lot better. We beat them at home, no matter how ugly, while MSU lost.

For what it's worth, I expect this to be a pretty close game most of the way through. Illinois has "been in" all of their losses until near the end. I think it will be within 6 or 7 until the last 5 minutes and then I Do Know Exactly Who That Is will help IU pull away to a 10-15 point win. We'll see though, who would have picked Iowa winning 43-36 over MSU last night?

just read the recap of the game. apparently PSU gave up a 16 point second half lead, mostly by shooting about 40% free throws (and missing 9 of their last 10). Way to go

It wouldnt surprise me if this game is close, but U of I cant pull out a close game with their abysmal free throw shooting. Also, I think you will see some pretty hard fouls on him today, not just in Champaign. In Champaign I just look for the Krush to give him hell all day, but I doubt the players care where the game is at.
