If the Lakers could be talked down to that, the Bulls would be getting away with murder.

Not true..we still got Big White and Bad..Aaron Gray

Woot!

Well, if you consider Wallace a C, then Noah would probably be able to step in and play that role, albiet with an initial dropoff in defensive ability.

I would make that tradeoff, though. Between Noah and Joe Smith, and depending on PJ Brown, you should be able to deal with the frontcourt ok.

Tyrus's ridiculous vertical abilities help down low too... although he doesn't have the size to deal with true centers yet.

I'd assume we'd have to include Tyrus in a deal for Kobe.

Even if we offered up Deng?

I don't know. But he can act like a tool and is ugly. Does that count?

Acts like a tool, ugly, tall....if there's another requirement for being an NBA center, I don't know it.

I'd plan on it. I wouldn't let Thomas break the deal.

He's really quite ugly. He's lucky Hawes is injured right now or I'd probably be harping about how nice it would be to have a legit center right now. Then again I'm not the type to harp on who I think the Bulls should've drafted in place of who they actually took.

You would've preferred Hawes to Noah? There were some better prospects in the draft than Noah, but I don't think Hawes was one of them. Really, considering who was available, Noah was the best pick there. Heck, some analysts had Gray over Hawes, so the Bulls do have a Hawes-type.

Well its a possibility that Wallace isnt starting at center on opening night. There have been reports Aaron Gray will start at center with Wallace at the 4.

Aaron Gray is only similar to Hawes in that he's tall, white, and has a bad haircut.(Actually just assuming Hawes has a bad haircut cause he's 7 feet tall) Aaron Gray shouldn't see a minute all year. He's brutal.

I wasn't that enamored with Hawes, but I was determined to get a big, and Hawes was the best on the board IMO. It would've been hard for the Bulls to find 2 guys I hated more in the draft beyond Noah and Gray.

Forgive my ignorance, but Aaron Gray smacks of stiff white guy. Is this accurate?

Gray has had a pretty good preseason, and has shown an ability to score points. Hes going to see minutes this year, and like I said earlier, he may be starting opening night.

His D and quickness are lacking, but hes shown an ability to put up points in the preseason. Skiles is basically thinking of starting him so they can get the post game involved right off the bat. Not saying its a good idea, but its a possibility.

I guess, if he thinks that going down to Gray early is going to open up lanes for Deng, Noc, Gordon and Kirk.

I usually like Hollinger, but those rankings look wacky.

Looking at how his rankings turned out over the last 5 years, though, it's uncanny how well they've worked out. Basically, with that metric, anyone over 500 score should be considered a solid contributor. The only misses he's had over the last 5 years are Michael Sweetney (who was a monster in college but succumbed to weight problems) and Jay Williams (unforeseen accident).

It's an Insider article, otherwise I'd link it.

Ben Wallace's contract is awful, awful, awful and again, awful.

The way he is deteriorating he can't be classified as a center anymore anyway. We involve him and LA gets a legit name in the package to spice it up, someone to (theoretically) guard Stat, Duncan, Boozer, Brand and other big dudes, we'd get rid of his dumb contract, also including BW is the only way to get the $ to match up without having to send ridiculous amounts of cash to LA and paying a HUGE luxury tax.

By the way everyone, PJ Brown is not a Bull. He is an UFA.

-I thought as much regarding Brown.

-Wallace sucks, and his contract sucks harder. They should have kept Chandler if they wanted an offensive liability in the frontcourt, and if we are players for Bryant, he absolutely has to be included in the deal.
