I was thinking about this. For those who want the BCS to fail, wouldnt it be best of USF, OSU, BC and KU all finish undefeated. There would be a large arguement over which 2 teams should be in the NT game. While noone would believe any of the 4 were the best team. That to me would be a major blow to the BCS.

that, or have no one without a loss and add even more teams to the mix

If that happened it would be LSU if they win out and Oklahoma if they win out. I really think my scenerio would cause the most issues. imo

If LSU runs the table I think they will leapfrog Either an undefeated SFlor and/or BC (obviously if they are both 11-0/12-0 respectively) to the #2 spot that is if OSU also wins all their games.

You are probably correct. Do you think that's the way it should be? LSU would have to beat Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and the SEC Eastern division winner (Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, or South Carolina) to get to that point. Is that enough in your mind to leapfrog S. Florida or BC?

Illinois has one decent loss (Missouri) and one awful loss (Iowa). Michigan has one decent loss made less decent by how crappy they played (Oregon) and one awful loss made more awful by the fact that the opponent plays in a lower division (App State).

Illinois is lower ranked because their last loss was last week and Michigan's last loss was Sept. 9th. That's why. I'd think it's pretty simple.

and because they are michigan. I don't care because I think ratings are ridiculous (how is Oregon now ahead of Cal?) but I do think Michigan gets bias.

Oregon lost by 7 at home to a very good Cal team. Cal lost at home by 3 to an average Oregon State team. Cal's loss is much worse than Oregon's is.

EDIT: Let me add that I do understand the other side of the argument - that Cal beat Oregon - and that I'm torn on which way I would rank them. I was just making an argument for putting Oregon ahead of Cal.

right, one could say "Oregon lost to a Cal team that lost to a mediocre Oregon State team", which hurts Oregon

I'm sure at this point I could do that with just about any team with a loss or two if I wanted to take the time to do it.

I know it will be in the coaches poll. SFlor has to beat Rutgers, UConn, Cinn, Syracuse, Louisville and Pitt to finish 12-0. Imo, any close game will take away points from them.

Is Kentucky in the same division as LSU? If so, if they win out who goes to the Champ game?

LSU controls their own destiny in the SEC...they are in the western division while Kentucky is in the east.

Also, our KSU win was pretty big, IMO. They should've beaten Auburn on the road, and they smoked Texas and CU. I think they're better than I thought.

Kansas State is no pushover, but they don't have more talent or depth than Auburn nor should they have "beaten Auburn on the road". Kansas State played Auburn when Brandox Cox was more likely to throw a ball into his opponents' arms rather than his receivers'. Also, that was the first college game for 60% of Auburn's starting offensive line. Auburn still won by 10 points.

As an aside, South Florida isn't as strong as some think either. If they run the table with the remainder of their Big East schedule, I guarantee you they will lose their bowl game. Auburn turned the ball over 5 times against South Florida and lost in overtime. Auburn is not a contender this year, but they fielded a more talented team than South Florida.

As did WV and White got hurt when they lost at SFlor, or does that rule just apply to Auburn? Many good teams are going to win and lose due to turnovers and this season is proving you have to bring it every game no matter who you are.

South Florida absolutely deserved both victories over Auburn and West Virginia. Obviously, all teams must deal with injuries, turnovers, etc., and South Florida has done an excellent job in creating turnovers and capitalizing upon injuries this year. The point of that portion of my post is that I do believe South Florida is likely to be exposed as a team with inferior talent/depth if they happen to play an Oklahoma or LSU in the national title game.

I hope they get a chance to prove it! I don't understand how you think Auburn is more talented though.

Does Kentucky or are they in the same division as SC? I like Woodson but I saw him turtle a couple of times and if he wants to be a NFL QB he can't do that.

Kentucky would need some help to get to the SEC championship game. They are in the same division as South Carolina who beat them earlier this year and also has only one loss presently....Tennessee and Florida are also in the SEC East.

I'll be utterly shocked if South Carolina wins out. They still have both Tennessee and Florida left to go along with marginally tough games with Vandy and Arkansas. They travel to Arkansas after a game at Tennessee and before a home game with Florida.

If I had to pick at this point, I'd say Tennessee and Kentucky had the best shots at winning the East followed closely by Florida. South Carolina would be fourth on my list.

Florida still, after last week's tough LSU game, gets to travel to Kentucky and face Georgia in Jacksonville. Then, after hosting Vandy, they go on the road to South Carolina.

Kentucky still has to host Florida and Mississippi State, travel to Vandy and Georgia and then host Tennessee.

Tennessee goes to Alabama, hosts South Carolina, and, after a barnburner homecoming game against ULL, hosts Arkansas and Vandy and then travels to Kentucky.

Tennessee and South Carolina are the only Eastern teams that need no help to win the East. Kentucky needs to win out and South Carolina to lose and Florida needs to win out and Tennessee to lose.

Nebraska's AD is reportedly GONZO. Talk is maybe Dr. Tom Osborne taking over.

No confirmation yet, though. Some reports say just the D-Coordinator. I think there's a presser in an hour in a half.

EDIT:

It's official. Pederson is gone.

And Cal is coming off a rough loss that cost them their NC hopes. UCLA is dead.

Cal: 845345 bajillion

....agree. If I had to guess, I'd say it will be Tennessee-LSU in the SEC Championship game.

That said, I'm excited about the Auburn-LSU game Saturday night. LSU has one weakness, and that is at offensive line. Auburn's front seven on defense is without a doubt their strength, so I'm hoping Auburn can exploit this and thus 1) contain the run and 2) put pressure on the QB.

A couple of my friends and I may drive over to Baton Rouge Saturday morning, tailgate, and attend the game.

Notre Dame benches Clausen for Sharpley this week (as per ESPN Bottom Line)

And Aldridge is doubtful. We're gonna get crushed.

Weis has really done a poor job handling the QB situation this year. Very disappointing.

USC by 30.

Anybody got a spare Illinois/Michigan ticket lying around? I don't feel like paying $100 on cragslist.

I'm going. My dad bought 4 season tickets in the horseshoe in anticipation of the Michigan game being a sell out. He actually has come out pretty even in the deal just by selling the Wisconsin tickets. He is probably going to sell the Northwestern tickets also.

Ended up being a pretty good investment. I wish Michigan St played there this year.

Mississippi State at (9) West Virginia (3:30 pm)

Could be a mismatch. Don't be surprised if MSU makes it a game. They, after all, knocked off one hell of an Auburn team (like that UF-Auburn mismatch game...).

I've got Auburn 6, LSU 9. Florida 42, Kentucky 35 (the scoring will probably even be higher than this). Tenn 17, Alabama 14. SC 31, Vandy 7. Arkansas 28, Ole Miss 17 in the SEC.

TT over Mizzou

Rutgers over USF

Colorado over Kansas

Mich over Illinois (BIG)

KSU over OSU

UCLA may give cal a run for their money

I wouldn't be surprised if Tech beat Mizzou. I'm really worried about this game. MU's defense is gonna have to come up huge just like last year if they want to beat Tech. I am pleased the game is at home, however. I think it'll be very close.

Depends on the QB situation for both teams, but UCLA has no chance if Cowan isn't playing.

Mizzou has little chance. Michael Crabtree is going be focused after his worst game of the season (8 catches for 170 yards, no TDs). Crabtree scores 3 TDs, 200 yards MINIMUM!

That's going to be an incredible atmosphere at that game. Auburn is picking things back up and playing like they ought to and LSU is going to be pissed after losing to Kentucky.

I'd love to have tickets to that game. Enjoy.

Based on what?

And as long as teams keep trying to shut down Rice and making Rutgers QB beat them, opposing teams are going to have success against Rutgers.

Tennessee is going to have to run the table in order to win the East. SC or UK will knock them off, I think.

It looks as if one of these teams could beat the other two, then they are in {UK, SC, UF}. UK's out. If UF beats UK, the east will probably come down to Spurrier vs the Gators.
