Mark Sanchez was all but named starting USC QB this weekend, Booty can't throw the ball without inflammation in his finger.

Anyone watching the FSU-Wake Forest game?

The officials are butchering this call. FSU is punting and on the punt, the ball bounced and hit a Wake Forest player and a FSU player recovered it. There was also a penalty on the play, a block in the back committed by Wake Forest.

So first, the official said that it was a 10 yard penalty from where the ball was recovered and it would be first down for Wake Forest. Then they said that there was a fumble on the play recovered by FSU and that with the penalty, there would be a rekick. So Bowden and his coaches are going nuts, the officials talked to them for a couple minutes and now the play is under review.

I don't get was is so tough about this. FSU punts, ball hits a Wake player and recovered by FSU. It's FSU ball.

And they just showed that the ball actually hit the FSU player who was blocked in the back before it hit the Wake Forest player so they'll have to rekick.

It took about 10 minutes for them to figure this out.

And now the refs changed it and said that the 10 yard penalty against Wake Forest gave FSU a first down since it was 4th and 10 prior to the kick. Like the announcers are saying, I thought if there was a penalty like a block in the back or a hold during the kick by the receiving team, they just mark the ball back 10 yards from where the receiving team would get the ball.

ugh, I really wish I could go to Norman for the game this weekend. I know 15-20 people who are heading out there, including a few of my roommates. I just don't have the money right now. Oh well, if we lose I won't have to drive seven hours back. Go Tigers!

Am I wrong but has Penn St gone down hill in terms of quality of individual that plays football for them? You used to never here about Penn St kids getting in trouble. Now it seems they are just as bad as everyone else. I certainly dont mean this as an attack against Penn St. I may be wrong. I just remember Penn St having a reputation of being really classy. I can think of several different incidents in the last 5 or 6 years now involving Penn St players.

I would love to say it's a PSU problem, but it's everywhere these days. The kids think they're entitled to whatever they desire and that their crap doesn't stink, so they try to take it.

I do believe that some schools are better about covering it up and working with local authorities to ensure problems are "solved" quickly and without much notoriety (see Tony Joiner and UF).

yeah i guess there have been more, but some are overblown. Like recently there were 3 or 4 players cited for underage drinking.... well if that makes them "bad kids" then I guess a lot of us were bad apples in college.

But no, I don't think you get the off-the-field problems with Penn State like you do at Miami or Florida State or Ohio State. Penn State's generally are minor and alcohol-related... you don't commonly hear about theft or fraud or assault, though this is an exception. I guess the bottom line is, if you're trying to put together a team of perfect kids, your team is going to suck. To compete on the national level you're going to have to take some chances, and maybe you'll get burned.

As for Austin Scott, without passing judgment on the recent incident, he's been an incredible waste of talent. He came to school as one of the most highly-touted RBs to enroll here, and he was definitely more talented physically than Tony Hunt - but Hunt started ahead of Scott each year. It's been rumored that Scott parties a lot and has a poor work ethic in practice and in the weight room, which would explain why he's been in Joe's doghouse for 4+ years. Regardless of whether he is guilty of what he's accused of, there's no excuse for being up at 4 AM when you have a game in 36 hours.

What did Micheal Robinson do? I dont remember but I think it was a little more than alcohol related. He was the first one that I remember. I thought at the time he would be done at PSU. Only to come back a year later. I am not saying this is right or wrong.

you're thinking of someone else. Rashard Casey maybe? Michael Robinson never got in any legal trouble as far as I know; if he did, it definitely wasn't serious enough to result in a suspension from the school.

Step down from your high horse. Whether it's PSU, OSU, USC, Texas, UF, UNC, etc. there are problems. And they are just as serious as one institution as they are at any other.

It comes down to who can keep it mostly under wraps, and who can't.

Comparing the discipline problems at FSU to PSU is laughable at best.
