Glad to see the Pads comeback win last night. I just hope the Phils can keep em close enough to keep them needing to fight. Peavy, Young, and Maddux are sure things for the Brewers.

I didn't even know that! They were down when I went to bed. So Peavy pitches tonight, so he could pitch on Sat. or Sun.

Losing to Willis is understandable however, there's no reason the Cubs shouldn't pound Barone tonight. He's had at best, limited success in the minors, the Cubs will get this one (tonight, I hope).

Hopefully Peavy pitching tonight will propel them to a win -- that would help, because I doubt seriously both the Phils & Rockies will lose, so someone will be within 1 game of the Padres heading into the final 4 games.

At least we'll get one team who will come to play against the Brewers. If they can beat up on the Padres playing for their lives? So be it.

Truthfully, Peavy on 3 days rest (he gave up 8ER in 4IP when he did it earlier this month), Young (0-3 7.00 ERA in September, 0-2 5.68 ERA in August), and Maddux (fly ball pitcher) don't really excite me in this series. Don't pin your hopes on those guys.

If he pitches Wednesday and then doesn't return until Sunday it's 4 days.

Wed - Thurs 1 day

Thurs - Fri 2 days

Fri - Sat 3 days

Sat - Sun 4 days

I think he could be just fine doing that. I think Mad dog will pitch well with the playoffs on the line. Not sure about Young.

No. He has 3 days rest, because he will have 3 days off. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Can't count today or Sunday, because he's not resting those days, he's pitching.

Rest isn't counted like that. He is on 3 days rest if he pitches Sunday. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are the only days he doesn't pitch in between starts. Normal rest would mean that his next start would be on Monday.

So...is this one going to be played?

They'll get it in. Chance of rain is 50%. Where is Truffle when you need him?

I'm trying really, really, really hard not to freak out right now.

Please don't pee on yourself out there Jason. Please.

Forget Marquis the offense needs to show up tonight. They should kill the next two nights.

You know, if the Brewers get to one game back tonight, it's pretty damn realistic that they'll take the division outright. The Padres are faltering, so it's compltely within the realm of possibilities that the Padres take all four games against them. If we were to win the final game of the Florida series and then 2 of 3 against Cincinnati, that wouldn't get it done.

I really think we get the job done tonight. GO CUBS!

I had a terrible feeling yesterday morning about the Cubs, and now I have a great feeling this morning. Good sign.

You mean the Brewers could take all four games. Hey, if they can take all four games and win 7 straight to close out the season. Tip your cap to them!

It's going to be one of those nights where I'm going to avoid watching them, check the score to see who won later on, and if it's good news watch the game. My nerves can't handle another loss like last nights.

No they aren't faltering. Yes, the lost 4 straight before yesterday, but that was after a 7-game win streak. 8-4 last 12 games.

And assuming you meant Brewers take all for, yes it is in the realm of possibility, but it's extremely unlikely. As, I posted in antoher thread, the Padres are one of 8 teams with a winning road record. Milwaukee is great at home, but the chances are greater that a .513 road team plays .500 this weekend than that a .644 home team plays .750 or 1.000 ball against a team that is 5 games better.

The Brewers wouldn't win the division outright in your scenario. If the Cubs won 3 games and the Brewers won every game for the rest of the year, there would be a 1 game playoff.

As far as the Padres faltering, I don't exactly see it. Sure, they got swept by Colorado, but Colorado is the hottest team in the league (won 9 straight games). Before that sweep against Colorado, San Diego had won 7 straight. I know they are without Bradley and Cameron, but their offense has still been fine the last 2 nights. The Padres really aren't playing that badly.

I don't really remember what I dreamt about, but I spent the first half hour of consciousness this morning being convinced that it was Thursday and the Cubs had already lost the first two games of the season, so I'm in the opposite boat.
