Save Peavy for Sunday.

IMO, there's only one way Peavy doesn't pitch Sunday, and that's if the Padres win 2 or all of the first 3 games in Milwaukee. I hope he doesn't have to.

Either way, it's a plus for the Cubs.

If the Pads drop the first two or three and fall out of contention by Sunday, you don't think it'll be more important to the pdas that they get a look at a prospect and give peavy his entitled rest than play spoiler?

Well, if the Pads lose the first three and the Phils and DBacks win the next three, but I don't see that happening. Philly faces Smoltz tomorrow, and Arizona is staggering. Plus the DBacks have to play Colorado over the weekend, and the Rockies are smoking hot right now.

It seems likely that either the WC or the West (possibly both) will go down to the last day.

I'm pissed off and would like to stay that way. I have no interest in your "logic" or "analysis."

It's going to be interesting in the NL West this weekend.

Right now the Diamondbacks are in first with the Padres 1 game back and the Rockies 2 back. Tomorrow the Rockies are in L.A. and the Diamondbacks are in Pittsburgh. But Friday through Sunday the Rockies, who have won 10 in a row, will host the Diamondbacks while the Padres are obviously in Milwaukee for 4.

Also, you have the pitching matchups. If there was a playoff on Monday involving the Padres, they could throw Peavy assuming they didn't use him on Sunday. The Diamondbacks have Webb going tomorrow and, if they were in a playoff, could go Monday on 3 days rest.

All i care is Cubs win tomorrow Brewers lose tomorrow. 3 up with 3 to go and I don't think i'll have to panic anymore.

That would be glorious beyond description.

With today's loss, I believe the Cubs have ensured that there is no chance they can have home-field advantage in the NLDS. With four to play they are 5 games behind the NL West leading Diamondbacks and four games behind the East leading Mets. Correct me if I'm wrong but if there is a tie for the seed in the playoffs between two division winners the tiebreaker is head-to-head and I'm pretty sure (without looking up the schedule) that the Cubs have a losing record against both the Mets and Phillies. So the best the Cubs can do there is tie with whoever wins the NL East and they would lose the tiebreaker.
