You cant exactly blame Cubs fans for jumping into panic mode with a 2 game lead and 5 games left. The team has trained it fans to do so over the past 99 years.

I hope Don Young doesn't choke down the stretch again. No wait that was 35 years ago, and he may very well be dead. The plight of the last 99 years has nothing to do with the current team. There aren't even many players left from the team that collapsed in '04, and most importantly there are no coaches or MANAGER left from that team.

It just seems that the Cubs always choke. The evidence is there. You can't deny it.

That being said, however, I feel good about this game. Hopefully they can rebound and the bats can put up 5 or so runs.

Hopefully they'll win and the Brewers will lose and all will be well...

True. If the Cubs cant muster at least another 3 wins against a couple of weak teams, and the Brewers can pull of 5 more consecutive wins, then The Brewers deserve to win it, and the Cubs dont and 2007 will simply go down as another dissapoining chapter in Cubs History.

So true.

BTW - Pad's are down again tonight. If they are out of it Brewers aren't going to see Peavy in the series.

Phils already lost. The worst the Pads could do is go into the Milwaukee series down a game, so I cant see them being out of it by then.

If we lose this game, and the Brewers win theirs...THEN I will begin to panic.. Please, Cubs...don't make me do that.

To play devil's advocate, the first thing anyone (Lou, Dusty, McDonough, Hendry, Soriano, etc etc) talks about when they accept a prominent position within the organization is how it's time to end the drought. I can guarantee you that the weight of 95 years was squarely on the shoulders of every uniformed Cub on 10-14-03, and I think that made them much more uptight than most teams/players would have otherwise been in that position.

If anybody wants reliever match-ups, they're on the first page of the previous thread. It takes time to update them... So I will do them before game 1 of the Reds series and then once every possible playoff round.

The Red Sox always choked too. Until 2004. How does the past have anything to do with this team, except for Ramirez, Wood and Zambrano from 2003 and Trax and Wood from 1998?

This is kind of a must win game, and I expect the Cubs to come through. Hopefully The Cardinals can do their part and maybe, just maybe, we'll be three games up by this time tomorrow.

It's hard not to agree with that sentiment.

I will also start furiously pounding this:

I'm not expecting much trouble out of this one. 8-0 win tomorrow night. Marquis pulls an Estes and gives us a huge win. Magic number down to at most 3.

Marquis has been too good this season to "pull an Estes." Trachsel can do that.

i dont have class until late on thursday. im going to drink during the game. my drunkenness will be directly proportional to the cubs suckiness.

i hope the cubs don't kill me, but if this is how i am to go, i will go.

Alright Cubs, I really, REALLY want to buy a plane ticket to Chicago for the playoffs but I'm not doing it until you bums clinch the division. At the very least, cutting the magic number to 3 would be spectacular.

If we don't win tomorrow I will be in full-on freak out mode.

I'm telling you right now not to freak, but start to prepare yourself.
