who the hell is daniel barone... we better beat this loser

Bad numbers at the ML level, no one has ever heard of him - He's not a soft-tossing lefty, but I still smell Barownage on the horizon.

I was totally confident about last night's game and the Cubs ended up looking like neutered chumps.

I am totally depressed and nervous about tonight's game, so hopefully that means they'll completely dominate and look like world-beaters.

RHP throws 90-91, will touch 93, locates his FB ok. His second pitch is a cutter, doesn't have a good breaking or off-speed pitch.

If the Brewers manage to close in one more game tonight, I may look around and see if any single seats for game 3 pop up a little closer to face value.

It would have been much more believable if you started Ward at 1b.

And Blanco at catcher and batting sixth. Oh wait, that was last year on this date.

I loathe the fact that Lou is doing the Dusty RLR thing.

I loathe the fact that people still mock the practice. It's good lineup construction (although admittedly less so in September when teams have 9 pitchers in the bullpen).

the only thing i like about switching the righty to left thing is if you have a bunch of righties in a row, you give the pitcher the chance to get zoned in on that outside corner of the plate and we can hit a damn thing off him, and weve seen it happen this year.alternating righty and lefty makes him hit both sides of the plate and change his location alot

Cubs are 2-8 in the last 10 games in which Reilly has called balls and strikes.

Marquis' teams are 0-5 in games in which Reilly has called balls and strikes.

go MLB.

It's quite simple really. When you string lefties and/or righties together, you make it really easy for the other manager to maximize platoon splits. It used to drive me crazy when Baker would bat Patterson and Walker (sometimes the only two lefties in the lineup) 1-2 because it absolutely guaranteed that for each of their final two at-bats, they'd both see left-handed pitchers.
