Here's a nice little scheduling gem:

April 22: In Chicago

April 23: In Colorado

April 24: In Colorado

April 25: In Washington DC

We fly west from Chicago for a two game trip, before flying all the way back east. WTF? I assumed we would have been somewhere else out west prior to the Rockies seies.

We miss the Yankees and the Red Sox huh? Good game schedulers. Wouldn't wanna make any money on those games. Nope.

Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox all make lots of money for others team. Having them play each other kind of cuts into the value.

After this season, the only interleague matchup we will have not had is vs. Boston in Fenway. We will have played every other team in baseball at home and at their place.

So... uh... Cubs @ Fenway in 2011?

Also, LOL @ the Cubs never getting a win in Yankee stadium.

I predict 2-8 all time in the house that Ruth Built.

4-day All-Star Breaks blow. Also, between the 5th of September and the end of the season, there are two off days on the schedule. Hopefully makeup games and DHs won't make that a brutal season-ending stretch.

I may get to see 4 or 5 games in April, with the Cubs traveling to both Philly and DC on weekends that month. At least this time, if they get swept, they still have to play when I show up to the park

EDIT - I wish they were coming to Camden Yards rather than the O's going to Wrigley. Oh well.

When did the Cubs play in Kansas City?

I believe all the interleague series before 2002 were between the respective East, Central and West divisions so I'm sure it was sometime in that period.

If you want to start an unbalanced schedule argument, you should start with the NL East and NL West teams complaining about the Cards, Cubs, Astros getting to play the Brewers, Reds and Pirates 54 times per year - or 1/3 of their seasons.

Sure but all sports have bad divisions that boost the record of other teams. Heck the main three have bad CONFERENCES...the NFC, NL, and Eastern Conference are all bad, and so the "good" teams in those conferences have a natural advantage.

My problem is more that there isn't an even schedule for teams in the same division. Part of that is a function of interleague. Part of it is a 6 team division. In any case, it's a pet peeve that I'd like to see fixed.

I'd like to see a 28 team division and the Yanks and Red Sox in the other.

We would all get bumped to ESPN Ocho just to get any hightlights or coverage.

Just looking at that schedule, I long for the days when there was only a NL East and NL West and 6 teams in each division. The Cubs would play 18 games against each NL East team and 12 games against NL West teams. The schedule was balanced for everyone. Nice and simple.

Something needs to be done. There are way too many quirks. It's as if schedulers used a dart board rather than rational thinking to come up with the schedule.

1998 we went 1-2 in KC

2000 we went 2-1 in KC

in Colorado in April That's going to be warm. Travelling from Chicago after playing Sunday to SD and then going to LA without a day off also hurts.

Denver in April probably won't necessarily be that bad. It could be, but it's also been in the 70's in March there. If the Sunday game is a day game, and Monday in San Diego is a night game, it should be relatively ho-hum. They get a day off when the west coast trip ends. Three consecutive Monday off days in June is actually kind of strange I think.

the 4 day ASBreak sucks. Every team should play on:

Opening Day

Fourth of July

Thursday after All Star Game

Labor Day

I'd add Memorial Day to that list.
