For a lot of reasons, Theriot is one of my favorites on the Cubs. That being said, I'd easily take Tejada's production over his.

I totally agree, I even stated that Tejada is the better player.

I'd take Ronny over Theriot at this point

If we're talking about just to test Ronny in light of Riot's slump then I'm on the same boat.

That's pretty optimistic to call it a "slump."

Yea I think its more fitting to call July a hot streak, and the rest of the season the norm. Think about this comparison:Cesar Izturis. Take a look at their numbers they are alot alike.

What would you all give up for Tejada? What would Andy ask for?

Id probably give up Marshall Veal and Either Pie or Epatt. With Tejada we need 1 of those guys to take over in CF, unless JJ is still here to play center.

Under no circumstances would I trade Pie for Tejeda.

Are the Cubs going to have enough money?

Tejada frightens me, he's not trending in the right direction.

He bothers me steroid wise too. I wanted him a couple of years ago and last off season/ een at the trading deadline but at his age, playing SS, worries me on how productive he'll be and the cost would be very high prospect wise along with stretching the payroll to the outer limits. I think it really would depend on how the Cubs ended up roster/payroll wise if Tejada would really be a wise investment.

Is he still a good defensive SS? His offensive numbers have declined to the point that his contract would not justify him having to play another position. I dont think I would give much for him unless Baltimore was willing to take some salary back.

Tejada has, what, two more years on his current contract? While he is getting up there in age, I think it would be difficult, if not impossible, to find a better SS for 2008. A-Rod would be great, but he's just going to cost too much. I really don't think the Cubs will be able to sign him.

But if he's traded in the middle of his contract doesn't he have the right to declare for free agency?

I'm pretty sure they took that out of the new CBA.

Did they really? Well that would help things.

IMO, the O's would want Hill, Pie and Marmol.

I'm with TT. I wanted Tejada last year or before this year. I don't really want much part of him at this point. He's not good defensively anymore. His power is trending downward, to the point his ISOP is at .155 this year. Last 2 years under .170. He has some major red flags as far as injuries are concerned.

That being said, I would still take him on this team. But I wouldn't trade Marshall and top prospects for him. I'd be hesitant to include Marshall at all, and I definitely don't include Pie. If Baltimore would take Veal, Atkins and Patterson, I'd probably do that at the most.

I'm not sure I'd trade any of them straight up for Tejada.

I think it's going to take a very hefty proposal to get Tejada, I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Padres trade Greene and others for him.

I certainly wouldn't. We've got control of the lot of them for another 4 or more years... Any one of them is likely to put up more value in four years than Tejada would over two.

I think it'd be difficult to be in favor of acquiring Tejada unless the Cubs managed to perform highway robbery. With the way he's been declining, he probably won't be worth what would seem like a "fair" price in players to get him.

That said, he's still a significant offensive upgrade at a position where the Cubs just don't have significant offensive upgrades available in-house, unless Cedeno manages to look something like he does in AAA.

Beyond that, there just aren't a whole lot of options for positional upgrades. Soriano locks up left field and can't be used in center, so the Cubs simply have to hope that players like Soto, Pie and Murton can provide an offensive boost in those areas.

Id trade pie, or marmol, or hill for tejada straight up.

youd be dumb if you didnt so i guess that makes some of you dumb

You'd be dumb to trade Pie or Hill for a declining Tejada with a likely limited payroll.

You're dumb.
