You'd think Soto would get a chance to start one game this series, no? He'd be ideal with those Crawford boxes.

I'd be surprised if Soto starts tonight with Kendall being 18 for 38 against Woody Williams in his career with a couple of doubles and a home run.

Too bad the good part of his career was a long time ago.

Which one? Kendall or Williams?

The point is, it's both, but this is probably one of Kendall's 5 best pitcher matchups in the entire major leagues. It's not the night to sit him.

The part where he's OPSed .771 for the Cubs hasn't been too bad. I'd rather they play Soto too, but it's not like Kendall hasn't been pulling his weight.

These last 17 games will be uphill all the way !!!

what a worthless point. It's a limited sample for all the pitchers and holds absolutely ZERO predicative power.

anyways trachsel sucks and will continue to suck as the cubs lose 10-4.

You're big on calling other's posts pointless and generally putting down other people's opinions. Consider this a warning, a vacation is just beyond the horizon.

Wow, last night when I saw the grounder go off first base and into RF, I thought this is the 2007 Brant Brown or Steve Bartman. We usually don't recover from that.

Weird that you mentioned we don't usually recover from those types of things, but you also mentioned Brant Brown, which we did recover from.

Ah yes, but by losing that game, the Cubs had to use Steve Trachsel (this thread is coming full circle) in the one game playoff prompting Mark Clark, he of a 4.84 ERA that season to start Game 1 of the playoffs.

Those opposing pitchers that Fred posted do not sound like people we can beat.
You're kidding right? There are no elite names in that list.

Are YOU kidding? The fact that there are no elite teams on that list are exactly why they don't sound like people the Cubs can beat.

I'll take my chances every day of the week. Cubs history of ineptitude against average pitching (besides being overblown) doesn't have any bearing on the future games. We have to assume all these pitchers will perform as expected - according to a balance between 2007 overall and 2nd half pace.

With an average pitcher you could get ace stuff, you could get 8 runs in 2 innings. However, with the aces the Brewers face, you know what to expect every outing. There is no question this a huge advantage for the Cubs.

We're realistically looking for 10-7 the rest of the way, not 17-0. 10-7 should not be a problem against the pitchers projected. For the Brewers to pull off 10-7 against some of the names in their projected - that would be a feat.

While the stats are specific to pitchers, the commentary is about the Cubs, whose offensive futility is almost as predictable as your arrogance.

Remember when we beat Woody Williams twice in ONE series? Yea, it would be nice to just beat him once this year. He's owned us. Anyway, I think Trachsel pitches well enough to win and Alfonso has a monster game. Cubs win 9-3.

Worthless stats are kind of Fred's thing and he likes to have fun with them....but hey, don't let that stop you from being an ass.

I would just like to express once again that I think it's bullcrap that this wasn't a day game.

No fun for those of us traveling in the morning, either. All get-away games should be day games.

Why? Isn't it in Houston?

I just assumed that getaway day would be a day game, but instead they will be of no help in making the next 45 minutes go by.
