I never said he should be suspended just investigated.

So much for the feel good story of 2007. The cheater should be suspended now. If the Cardinal organization had an ounce of integrity, they would do it now.

sure you did.

good times.

I think this reads suspended.

It's been fixed.

As for the name, sorry all the cool names like "Faceman" were already taken.

One thing's for sure, Ankiel's going to get shredded on the road. If the stories about him having a fragile psyche are true, it'll be interesting watching him over these last few games.

There are so many inconsistencies here.

Yeah, where to start ... Oh I know, how about that he hit those ten homers at a greater rate than the 21?

Was he using steroids in 2001 when he hit 10 homers in 105 at-bats as a part-time DH, or in 2005 when he hit 21 in 311 at-bats after he gave up pitching?

Good one. I wasn't picking names based on coolness or creativity - but at least I am really really really really good looking and popular with the ladies, exhibiting the traits of my handle's motivation. Yours on the other hand. .

So let me get this straight: this guy is a coke addict, now a drug cheat, and the league is going to just sit by and watch while he carries a team that doesn't deserve a playoff berth to a division title?

I better never hear that MLB now cares about drug use, that's for freaking sure. What a load of crap.

Oh yea, poor Cards being picked on by the media. Is that the excuse this time? Give me a freaking break.

you're right...mlb should step in and disqualify the cardinals from the 2007 season because he got hgh shipments in 2005 and some guy on a message board says ankiel allegedly used coke like eight years ago (and because they don't "deserve" it). let's just see if mlb can mandate a division title for the cubs while we're at it.

the whining in this thread would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic.

Whatever. More of your ultra-sarcastic B.S. I couldn't care less. There are plenty of other things that could be done. How about a suspension, or at least an actual investigation of Ankiel?

But hey, don't let that stop you from acting like a dick.

come on, a suspension? you're asking for a guy to be suspended now because there's a rumor that he received hgh, which wasn't illegal, three years ago? give a me break. that's ridiculous.

if this was a cub player and cardinal message boards were calling for his suspension, we'd all be quoting them here and having a great laugh.

Fine, can we at least get someone to actually look into it at a minimum?

I'm looking at the history of this guy. He's a former drug addict. Now there's reports he pumped HGH too.

If it turns out a year from now that this guy was cheating, every last person in the country is going to go, "HELLO?? EVER HEARD OF A RED FLAG? Why was nothing even looked at??"

Show me the Cub who has this kind of sordid history and the suspicion and I will gladly ask for the same.

How do you even know he is a drug addict? He has never been caught with or failed a drug test. So because someone on here says their friends says so you say he is? Thats not to say that this person is lying, but since noone here has ever seen him stick anything up his nose I think its a little unfair to say that he is a drug addict.

It's been explained once already to get back on topic. Please respect these requests.

Now, back to Rick "track marks" Ankiel.

Predictably, the early reaction from Cards fans here is heads in the sand, blaming the New York media for dredging this stuff up, etc.

Would you expect any less from fans that turned a blind eye to LaRusa's drunken binge, the drug use of Hancock and Spiezo and who dubbed Rick Ankiel "The Natural."

Yeah, he's about as Natural as Pamela Anderson's boobs.

Its not cause I am a Cards fan that I am defending Ankiel, if it came out that a Cubs player got HGH legally prescribed to him in 2004 when it was legal, and there was no proof that he has used it since I would defend him too. If it comes out that Ankiel is still using them, then I have no problem with him being suspended. But as for now he got something from a doctor, no doubt a shady doctor, but he got something that was legal at the time to help with his rehab. I dont really see how anyone can get that mad at him. I know this is gonna come off as a Cards homer, but this was a former phenom coming off injury trying to save his career. He saw that this drug HGH could help him do that and it wasnt illegal at the time, there is a good chance that alot of guys would have done the same thing to save their careers to

I respect your passion for defending all things Cardinal but isn't the "I thought it was OK because all the other kids are doing it" excuse supposed to end around junior high?

Could you please elaborate on the bolded?

I will for him.

Someone on a message board posted that Rick Ankiel was a user of cocaine.

Therefore, Rick Ankiel is a coke head. I don't see how someone could dispute it.

Was he using steroids in 2001 when he hit 10 homers in 105 at-bats as a part-time DH, or in 2005 when he hit 21 in 311 at-bats after he gave up pitching?

I think one could speculate that he was indeed using back then. If he ordered a year's supply of HGH in 2004, why would he stop taking it in 2005? Because it was illegal then? Maybe, I guess.

One thing I find interesting about this story- and warning here- I have no facts to back this up, just theory-

He's getting some sympathy, and not just here- Mike Golic said this morning that hey, the guy was recovering from surgery about that time, it's not like he was in great shape and took something to be even better (I guess read Barry Bonds/ Giambi into that) he was just a poor fella trying to get better and have another shot at MLB.

But my theory is this- I'll wager that a high, high percentage of HGH users have used steroids. And I'll wager that very few steroid users in comparison have used HGH. Steroids are far easier to get.

I'm not sure what any of that means, but the argument that HGH wasn't banned in 2004 is pretty close to the steroids weren't banned in 2001 argument. And, I'd be stunned if a guy used HGH and never ever touched a steroid.

I thought the " I thought it was ok cause everyone else was" excuse only worked if you were doing something wrong. Ankiel got a prescription from a doctor to do a drug that was legal at the time. So I dont need to use that excuse cause there is no proof that Ankiel has done anything wrong or illegal.

Posted
Now we all know why half of Ankiel's throws ended up at the back stop when he was a pitcher. The track marks in his arm hurt very much each time he threw the ball. :D
Posted
But, he got a prescription from a doctor to use a drug and that doctor illegally prescribed stuff to bunches of people who were getting their performance enhancers from him. I don't think that gets you off the hook completely.
