I know we're moving completely off topic here, but I think the call for testing against HGH is a little strong.

HGH isn't really like steroids, and in a lot of cases can do more harm than good.

And Roger Clemens thanks you for that!

How about another four-run eighth inning, guys?

Jones, Kendall, Fontenot due up

don't count on it.

Bright side to that is after those 3, there's about 4 in a row who can hit, so if 1 or 2 of them get on, the Cubs are in business.

Jones against a 3/4 lefty?

This will end well.

Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket instead....the odds of winning would be better.

And Rick Ankiel homers.

Is this coming as a surprise to anyone? That freaking team could sign Neifi Perez and Jose Macias and drag 100 OPS+ seasons out of both of them, complete with gold gloves.

No they couldn't, and Ankiel isn't that big of surprise because we've known all along he could hit.

His batting average in the major leagues right now is 28 points better than his OBP in the minors. Everybody knew that he could hit home runs (although 1 every 10 at-bats like he is doing right now is ridiculous) but everyone thought that at least his OBP would be under .300 in the majors (it was .314 in the minors). Instead, his OBP is around .390.

I don't think anyone expected he'd have a 1.100 OPS at this point.

I would've expected the slugging to be reasonably high, but he can't sustain the OBP.

Well he never walked a lot in the minors. Now batting in front of Pujols, a position where you will always get pitched too, he is walking. Now part of that is the Cardinals have played a lot of home games lately, but still it is ridiculous that his patience is getting better at the big league level.

HGH testing is next to impossible. It doesn't stay in your system nearly as long as steroids or other drugs.

The only way most people have been caught doing HGH is through things like online pharmacies and phony prescriptions.

I really think that part of that is that they expect to win and the positive mental framing that goes with it.

I highly doubt that.

So you really think the drain of playing on a crappy team helps? Have you ever went from a crappy team to a good one?

I don't think you'll take extra batting practice or watch more tape if you're already 30 games out and in the middle of your contract.

This Cardinals team was atrocious in April and they're still not that good on paper.

I think the Cardinals have the same mindset as the Bears: failure isn't an option. The Cardinals' only question is when they'll take over first. Let's make them look like fools.

Ryan Braun ROY and Rick Ankiel CPOY

hopefully the Cubs have something more special to brag about

Let's hope Marmol turned into the next October Kid K. C-Mar? He should dye his hair orange so we can wave signs that say "Orange Marmol Aid!" when he strikes someone out.
