I'd like to give Jacque a game off and put Monroe in CF tonight with Murton in LF and Ward or Cliff in RF. I pumped that I can see it on ESPN.

GO CUBS!

Don't get too pumped. It might not be much to see..

Stults has a .304 BAA against lefties and a .250 BAA against righties, I hope Lou doesn't just stack the lineup with righties.

Sample size out of curiosity?

5.2 IP vs lefties, 22 IP vs righties.

While it's not a large sample, I'd still like to see one lefty OF in the starting lineup.

ETA: He had a .467/.579/.867/1.446 in a brief 3 IP against lefties last season.

If there was ever a must-win game this season......this is it. Jason Marquis going tomorrow, can't be counted on. Theodore needs to pitch a lot better than he has in recent starts. Oh yeah, and the Cubs should try scoring some runs.

Could be, but then again, this is the last of the games against the good (ie non-NL Central) contenders that the Cubs have struggled against all year. And even if they lose both, the worst they will be is 1 game back. In theory, these are the games they are supposed to lose, and then the must wins will be against STL and the rest of the crappy central teams. So, even though they've also struggled against the NLC also rans, they will still be in this thing if they lose to LA. They will just put themselves in the difficult position of actually having to win some games, which has been proven to be very difficult for them this year.

Its a 4 game series Goony, we have LA tomorrow afternoon as well.

Hopefully the Soriano-Monroe-Murton thing stays against left-handers, so I am desperately hoping that Monroe looks decent in CF tonight.

I also like to see Soto get mixed in-while I don't necessarily need for him to get many starts here down the stretch, 3-5 would be nice and would help Kendall rest a little more for possible playoffs.

I hope today and tomorrow are the last days that Cedeno starts for the rest of the year. That's my guess to what will happen with Lou giving Theriot 2 days off in a row.

I hope Cedeno goes 2-3 with a HR and a walk each day and starts a lot more down the stretch.

After feeling terrible about this game for most of the day, I am beginning to get a good feeling. I think Monroe and Soto both contribute with a couple of doubles. Murton homers again and although cedeno will go hitless, he'll have a web gem.

cubs win 7-4.

Same here. I just don't know if I trust Ronny to have a solid approach and even out-produce Theriot this year.

Interesting lineup, glad to see Lou got fed up and decided to mix it up. This is what I was hoping for/expecting in the outfield when we acquired Monroe. Hopefully Monroe plays well enough in CF to force a platoon out there.

Even if he did that the next two days, I couldn't assume that it would continue for the rest of the month. Cedeno has much more upside, but he also has a lot more downside than Theriot. I have no confidence whatsoever that Cedeno could outperform Theriot down the stretch, even though Theriot has been pretty terrible the last month.

I also think they are at least equal defensively at the moment until Cedeno can show he can keep the throwing errors down, which he didn't last year and he couldn't at Iowa this year either (15 errors in 75 games at Iowa). Now Cedeno gets to balls that Theriot cannot as well, so it's hard to say how those two factors balance.

Who's calling the game?

It's safe to say it will be someone who's stupid.

which is why i'll stick with WGN (if the thread title means it's on both)
