Fuld may be replacing Patterson at least temporarily.

The Score just reported that he was sent home yesterday after showing up late and wasn't at the park as of 4:45 today.

I don't get it. Didn't Patterson rope a double down the right field line yesterday? How was he sent home?

Yeah he did. I didn't catch anything after the top of the 5th, but he didn't stay in after that AB did he?

If he was being disciplined, why would he have batted at all?

I can't be the only person that has absolutely no idea who Hart is. Anyone wanna fill me in?

At first, I thought Bo Hart was joining the team... so you're not alone!

Alright, who's Fuld??

CF drafted several years ago out of Stanford. LH bat with a pretty solid approach at the plate and a strong defender, ceiling of a 5th outfielder. Remember Adam Greenberg? He's pretty much another incarnation of that skillset.

There's one important difference between Greenberg and Fuld.

Greenberg struck out a lot. Fuld doesn't. That should give him a better chance to have a good batting average without needing to hit for a lot of power to do so (or having a HOF-caliber or very lucky BABIP).

How did sam Fuld beat out Kroeger and Craig? He hit .269 with 2 home runs. All 3 of these guys are at older end of "prospect"s, so why did they chose the most mediocre of the 3? I for one am curious to see Tyler Colvin, but I may have to wait few years.

Kroeger's hurt and out for the year (I'm almost positive). Not sure why they went with Fuld over Craig though - maybe they want another center fielder, which would mean Fuld.

Kroeger came back from his injury, and finshed up the season playing for Iowa.

How much of a big deal financially is this for these guys? Are they going to make more in a month than they did the rest of the year?? What are these guys likely making?

~1 month of the league minimum I believe. ~50,000 Anyone?

Yeah, something along those lines.

Craig doesn't play OF (who might still be viewed as roster filler) and Kroeger is a corner OF so that's probably why they went with Fuld (also, I'm not sure how the org views Kroeger). Kroeger did come back healthy.

Todd Wellemeyer made the minimum his first year up, and that amounted to a check worth $29,500 twice a month.

He made $75,000 for being on the bench (not even the active roster) for the playoffs.

Rough life.

Sam is one of my absolute favorite guys in all of the Cub system. He's a very smart cookie- bachelors in econ and working on a masters at Stanford is an amazing feat unto itself. A hard worker - I can still remember the last game of the 2005 season, he got at least 1 hit that last day, and when he did, he knew he hit .300 and was fist pumping as he stood at first base.

He will definitely be the guy who *will* be at the ballpark an hour early.

I've definitely been on the Fuld BandWGN for a couple of years, and know he'll make the most of the call-up!

<--------- this is Sam, btw

Ok, my mistake. Thanks for correcting me.

How much are they making in the minors? I first thought about this last year when the Cubs called up a couple of older pitchers - Walrond and O'malley I think. Especially at their stage it's got to be huge from a financial stand point just to be called up, even if just for a short time.

I was at the game last night and me and this guy that was sitting next to me were like who the hell is #55. We thought it might have been Petrick but we really had no clue. Then when he came into the game there like now pitching for the cubs Kevin Hart. We were like who the hell is Kevin Hart lol. He had solid numbers though in AA. 10-1 with a 2.80 era. He pitched really well minus the first guy he walked.

He was 8-5 with a 4.24 ERA at AA and 4-1 with a 3.54 ERA at AAA.

I recall seeing those numbers somewhere else, probably on the broadcast. I think it was over his last 13 starts or something?

Hrm, sounds about right, he really came on in June and has been much better since. I believe the improvement was attributed to a new pitch added to his arsenal or an improvement to this new pitch.

Those numbers were posted on the wrigley score board last night. I did not actually look up the numbers myself as I just assumed they were accurate. Like I said I had never heard of the guy before so when I saw those numbers I was like dang not too bad.

Fuld is getting his masters in statistics at Stanford in his spare time.

Am I the only one that finds this funny?

Now the Cubs have an expert in statistics in the dugout. 8-)
