This is getting close to a "must-win" game.

How so? Even if we lose tonight we're still going to be in 1st place.

Symbolic more than anything. Solidify our place by winning a series against the second (soon to be third? ) place team.

the lineup the cardinals are trotting out there today is flat out pathetic.

pujols should go 0-0 with four walks every game the rest of the season if that's the best they can do.

For the record, it's........

Eckstein, ss

Ankiel, cf

Pujols, 1b

Encarnacion, rf

Ludwick, lf

Molina, c

Miles, 2b

Piniero, p

Ryan, 3b

End of the second, it's 1-0 Houston.

which means they'll probably win the game going away. It's amazing how a Cardinals jersey turns junk into gold.

Certainly glad I wasted 40-some dollars on bleacher tickets last night.

Anyway, I'll be on for tonight. It may be a little late (midnightish?) before I get the game thread up but no worries, it will go up.

I'm pretty sure I could hear you dropping F-bombs throughout the top of the seventh. I felt bad for you.

Cubs need an easy win tonight. The entire month of August there have really only been two games that weren't nerve destroying.

I'll be in the bleachers tonight which means the Cubs will probably lose.

I know "must win" is a loose term, but I don't think a 'symbolic win' is a must win

There are five weeks left, and even if the Cubs lose they're still in first. However, with the Brewers being in second and having spent so much time in first, and this being the last game of the year against them, it's about as important of a game as it could possibly be at this time of year.

So that means we lose in heartbreaking fashion? Yay!

I have complete faith in the Cubs, Cards, and Brewers to all suck, and then suck-not-so-much-for-short-periods-of-time, and then suck again, to make this come down to the last weekend; between at least 2 of the teams, if not all 3.

THEN the Cubs will lose in heart-breaking fashion. Cause you know, 99 years isn't enough, gotta be at least 100.

Can someone explain to me why Pie is still on the bench?

Can someone explain to me why Jones is in versus a lefty?

Because Jones has been hot, he's a vet, and there are no RH options for CF unless you count Monroe, which Lou obviously doesn't.

I'm calling out a Monroe Homerun tonight!

I'm off to the game baby! 3rd row behind the Cubs undeck circle!

Jones looked pathetic Tuesday night against Shouse (Lefty)
