Hot.

And ESPN did the smart thing on their predictions.

Why did they do the smart thing? I thought it was horribly stupid and lame. Not just because they completely set it up for a four team playoff, but when was the last time four teams from major conferences all finished the regular season unbeaten? I know there were five unbeaten teams in 2004 but Boise State and Utah aren't in major conferences.

i didnt expect you to understand.

How nice of you.

I'll ask you again, why did they do the smart thing?

EDIT: And why am I not surprised you made a condescending remark rather than just explaining it in the first place.

Wow...one day of rest between games, that's pretty tough.

Syracuse is playing your old coach today...Ty on Saturday. He's already worried about the wind in the Dome and how it'll effect the game. I kid you not.

Picked up my Mizzou/Illinois ticket yesterday. Saturday can't come soon enough.

I'm also heading down and meeting some Illini alumn friends.

We're still trying to decide where to meet up at. If the weather's good we're thinking one of the bars in Soulard with a patio.

That's going to be disappointing for you.

First team to 40 wins.

Then it will be the Illini. Their defense will be decent to good.

Decent defenses get lit up by Top 5 offenses. Facing an offense as high powered and unique right off the bat will give them problems, methinks.

You're forgetting that Chase Daniel is apparently winning like 7 heismans this year.

Yeah, I'll admit I know nothing about Mizzou.

He is the long lost son of Ron Pawlus.

He's not selfish, a half-dozen is fine by him.

Wolf, this does a good job outlining Mizzou, except for the inexplicable praise of Brock Christopher. EDIT: And Ricks hurt himself and will be out this Saturday.

Scout[/url]"]Offense: If all the parts are working as expected, this should be one of the nation's five most productive offenses with an embarrassment of riches to work with. Junior QB Chase Daniel is growing into a star leader with more than enough weapons to choose from. The tight end combination of Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman is the best in the nation, Will Franklin can fly on the outside, and Tony Temple leads a small, quick backfield that'll rip through the holes created by a talented, experienced line. The problems? Consistency and proven play in crunch time. The numbers are going to be there, but they have to come against the top teams in the big games.

Defense: The whole will be greater than the sum of the parts. A pass rush will emerge eventually from the outside linebackers as well as end Stryker Sulak, while Brock Christopher has the makings of an All-Big 12 performer at middle linebacker. The secondary will be fine thanks to the return of starting corners Darnell Terrell and Hardy Ricks, but replacing safeties David Overstreet and Brandon Massey won't be easy. There's tremendous speed and athleticism in the back seven, several good young players to get excited about among the backups, and an excellent tackle pair in Evander Hood and Lorenzo Williams to anchor things up front. Now the D has to prove it can come through on a consistent basis against the top teams.

TT - do you have any idea who is returning kicks/punts this year? I'd like to see Pig Brown back there, and do not want to see Tony Temple (or Marcus Woods, who I forgot existed until last week) back there under any circumstances.

Death, taxes, and Tyrone Willingham being a stupid football coach.

The only three things we can count on in this world.

Crap, I live with a couple guys who are at practices all the time, and I forget exactly who they said. Woods and Saunders are definitely in the mix, and I think I remember Maclin's name as well as Washington's(might've been Gettis, can't keep them separate in my mind).

I'm pretty sure I saw Tommy Saunders today, and if that was him his afro is huge.

I didn't know Mizzou was good. Hmm...

So it's basically them and Nebraska in the North?

Should be yeah. K-State should be decent but not great. I'm not expecting much out of Iowa State and Kansas, and I have no idea what to expect out of Colorado this year.

I seriously am surprised that people think Mizzou/Illinois is going to be a close game. I'll be shocked if U of I can hang into the 4th quarter. I predict 45-17. If Illinois somehow wins, I'll come back and gladly eat crow.

I'll be extremely surprised if it's a blowout. Both teams should be able to rack up the points.
