College Football - Week of 9/1

i dont get all the expectations for the badgers. theyre just not that good.

 

They aren't that bad either. They return just about everyone from a team that went 12-1 last year, the only loss being to Michigan where special teams and an injury to one of the best cornerbacks in the country let them down. That game was close in the second half. Sure they have an easier schedule, but they beat the teams that were put in front of them.

 

they arent, they should be in the 15-25 range. They beat one top 25 team last season. They beat the teams they were supposed to beat, there's something for that. I just have a hard time seeing them ranked 7th in the nation after they beat just one top 25 team last season and then seeing the two big dogs in their conference getting smacked in the mouth.

 

almost everyone is back from a top 5 defense last year.

freshman of year

top kicker and punter in the big ten

top junior cornerback in the nation

most experienced defensive line in the country

top te in the big ten

both olb's in the top ten last year in tackles for loss in the big ten

only loss was to michigan at michigan and was tied at halftime.

losses from a 12-1 team are a left tackle and a quarterback that couldn't get a job in an nfl training camp.

They're going to be middle of the pack or worse in the Pac-10 this year, imo. They have a few nice players like Brink, Tardy and Bumpus, but otherwise they're nothing special. Wisconsin should win handily, especially since the game is in Madison. I guess WSU could keep it cloes in the first half.

Seeing how I go to a school without a college football team, I'm pretty pumped to be heading to Miami to visit my buddy for the season opener against Marshall in the Orange Bowl. Glad I get to go before they move out.

ESPN has this incredibly stupid thing going where they are predicting each week in college football. As of mid-november, they still have like 7 undefeated teams

No he can't. He really really hates UGA, though I think he respects Mark Richt (and he should).

 

I think this a year we can get them. There OL is struggling and they don't have near the front 4 they have had in the past. We'll see how it goes but if we win that game, we should be headed to UT in October at 7-1 (with a week 4 loss at LSU).

Yeah, that's what I hear. Georgetown, Butler, Illinois State and UW-Milwaukee all making trips to Muncie in out of conference play in one year is pretty ridiculous.

HAHA!! Sure enough. They finished the thing on SportsCenter today and Rece Davis says "We finished with four unbeaten teams and two of them aren't going to be happy with our national championship game. If only we had a four team playoff with 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3.

Not just because they completely set it up for a four team playoff, but when was the last time four teams from major conferences all finished the regular season unbeaten? I know there were five unbeaten teams in 2004 but Boise State and Utah aren't in major conferences.
